Subject: Ozcatters @ 2012 National FF? From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 11 Mar 12 - 08:24 AM Here we go again - only 25 sleeps till we meet @ The National. Naturally other Catters are welcome & I know Brian Peters & quantock & JennyO will be coming from pommy land. Sydney catters will include me, Allen in Oz, Bob Bolton, Chris Maltby, freda?, ex-Sydneysider JennieG is coming from the Small Smoke Hrothgar & Cloudstreet will be there from the Sunshine state Notforjo will travelling miles & miles from the far west. who else will be there? Here's the program and here's a good place to meet - Sat 2pm @ the Trocadero for Australia's oldest folk club's celebration of it's first 10 years 1954-1964 - Bob will be projecting the pics, I'll be swanning around looking decorative or hiding behind a camera & other Bush Music Club members will be on stage. Naturally a lot of us join Hrothgar in his (non-religious) hymn session, the best singing session in the whole festival & that's normally where we pose for the traditional OZcatters portrait. Hrothgar says he will be assisted by his beautiful assistants Anne (his lovely wife), Jennie & Sandra! Wow, we're in the program thread is now open for contributions sandra |

I'm leading a couple of free reed workshops, so concertina enthusiasts are welcome at the Forum on Sunday, whilst accordion afficionados can perhaps come and see some of the mysteries of the instrument's internals on Friday. Both workshops start 10am for an hour, but I won't be rushing away at the end and I shall be delighted to continue afterwards at any suitable location should the need arise. |

Ron Baxter and I will be spending the Easter weekend at the Shanty Festival at the National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port (formerly the Boat Museum), performing as Red Duster. We'll be presenting Ron's collection of Merchant Navy songs in "Farewell to the Clan Line", and a selection of the Fleetwood and Fishing material we have gathered over the years. Any Ozcatters trapped in the UK and suffering "National" deprivation (or any other variety of 'catter) welcome to drop by and say hello. The first Shanty UK Festival last year was a great success and we're looking forward to more of the same this year. Looked like something the cat dragged in, but according to the coordinator it was OK (my fingers are firmly crossed) Bob Bolton has collected together several hundred historic pictures & scanned other historic stuff & I've posted some of them here Other early members have raided their albums & provided more pics & I've sent them back to keep searching & scanning (please)! More to follow, I'm also repairing the 1968 banner in my spare time so we can take it with us. Check out the 5 newest albums, then the 7th to 10th, & also the Historical album way below. She's not on the program, but she'll be meeting up with her friends in Chaika and going for blackboard spots. I'm so glad you're having Chaika at the Dog! They were Di Khupe Heybners when Sarah founded the band, but after she went overseas to study no one could pronounce the name, so they changed it to Chaika. They are all of them lovely young women (now joined by one young man). Better half and I were at their CD launch at 505 a couple of weeks back. |

Looks like the Thursday & Friday stragglers might not be able to join us our camp. What if we can't claim enough space for the camp ... I've just warned the other early birds who set up their camp near ours. Maybe they can claim land for us too, or we can claim land for them or ... sandra (worrying) tho we just might have another advance scout, I'll find his mobile number & see if he is already there |

As you aren't arriving in a 50ft motorhome you will be fine.....geez, have you seen the size of some of those outfits? They look at our little slightly-less-then-12ft-long caravan and laugh.......but then, we look at their colossuses (colossi?) and laugh louder.
