My Bro asked me about Crowd songs at Rugby International Matches -
NO problem with Swing Low , or Flower of Scotland , but what do they sing in Dublin ?
And I mean at the match , NOT in the post match booze up ! LOL

And in Wales;

"Hymns And Arias"
Delilah
Cwm Rhondda (Bread of Heaven)
Calon Lan
I bob un sydd ffyddlon
Sospan fach

etc. etc. etc.

And of course, we don't just sing them in Wales, we sing them at away games too! No need for canned music to celebrate a score!

Cheers

Nigel

And we were singing Hymns and Arias..........

Of course, the Irish seem stuck on Fields of Athenry.

'arry 'ad 'an 'orse

Whilst mentioned by Max Boyce in "Hymns & Arias", "Ar Hyd y Nos" is not really a song that gets the terraces ringing. It is more by way of a lullaby. You'll often get someone to sing it in the bar after the game. The call for silence for the singer may often be referred to as a request for "bags of hush now, please".

Cheers

Nigel
