I'd like to share some information I've come across which may be of interest to students, performers, or fans of early Scottish folk music, and which a search indicated hasn't been specifically reported on this site.

The book Illustrations of the lyric poetry and music of Scotland by William Stenhouse, which has occasionally been mentioned on this site, was written as a companion to the fundamentally important collection The Scots Musical Museum. What I don't think has been reported here is that the Introduction and Appendix to the Introduction of Stenhouse's book give a comprehensive and detailed list of Scottish song collections published up to the mid-19th century. Of course, many of these sources will be hard to find either on line or physically, but still, I think anyone seriously researching early Scottish songs will find this list of immense interest.

And fortunately, Stehouse's book is available in full preview (at least in the US)on Google Books. To find it, do an advanced search for full preview of the title Illustrations of the lyric poetry and music of Scotland (the direct URL is long, and besides since more editions may show up in the future, it's probably better to search for it.)
