Subject: Washboard guitar From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 30 Mar 12 - 08:24 AM A mailing from the Blues CD Store alerted me to Nathan James & the Rhythm Scratchers and the Washtar Gitboard: HERE on Youtube: Every home should have one! RtS |

Subject: RE: Washboard guitar From: Will Fly Date: 30 Mar 12 - 10:30 AM I like it! But shouldn't he have been playing with thimbles? |
Subject: RE: Washboard guitar From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 31 Mar 12 - 05:32 AM I understand ( but not on the Youtube clip I linked to) that he normally plays with metal fingerpicks & strums the 'board with those. RtS |

Subject: RE: Washboard guitar From: Bobert Date: 31 Mar 12 - 05:04 PM Personally speaking, as an authentic Lowebow player, all these folks playing various "standard geetar necks" bolted onto gas cans, washboards, cigarboxes or whatever ain't requiring any additional skills to play... Now a Lowebow or diddly bow is a different story... B~ |
Subject: RE: Washboard guitar From: GUEST,Tony Date: 31 Mar 12 - 10:18 PM Yes, the title of this thread is misleading. The instrument shown in the video appears to be essentially just a neck and a magnetic pickup bolted onto something which itself doesn't make much sound. The instrument should really be called an electric guitar. If it were played acoustically, with a distinctive sound made by the washboard, then it would be a washboard guitar, and possibly a good thing to play along with a washtub bass. |

Subject: RE: Washboard guitar From: Bobert Date: 03 Dec 12 - 07:35 PM Thanks, Tony... That was my point... If all these supposed cigar box players are anything but electric guitar players then let them play something that doesn't have a guitar neck... B~ |
Subject: RE: Washboard guitar From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 04 Dec 12 - 08:49 AM I agree, Tony and Bobert. Sorry, Roger. |
