Hello good people. FILO Folk was dead but has now been resurrected. The newer management, Mr Del Monte, has said yes!
From Saturday 12 May and every Saturday evening thereafter from about 8.30 pm onwards.
Were back. Perish the Thought!

For those who don't know the FILO is the First In Last Out on York Terrace, in the Fishburn Park Area of Whitby, up behind the hospital. In it's previous format (every Tuesday and first Saturday of each month)it was to my mind the best little session anywhere in Whitby run by two good guys Chris Coulter and Stuart Tonnar who sometimes go under the name "Perish The Thought"

Any one got the post code. It might help one or two people by Googling and save them getting lost by going into the centre of Whitby / getting lost etc.
John - glad you like the combination. Tip - if in your car always have an ould Supermarket plastic bag in the boot and you can put it over your lap to stop vinegar etc getting on your clothes.
Dear me, does getting older make a person more practical - years ago I wouldn't have even thought abour such things as "plastic bags on laps".

Post code is YO21 1PT. If using Google maps the marked position for the pub is out by about 50 yards; you need to move East, with the (public) entrance being on the end of the block, just under where it says Manchester House.

the little posters in the pub windows are showing it as an 8pm start, is this a 'typo' or should I get there earlier than planned to bag a seat? :)

'Twas brillig in the FILO, amongst the slivy toves, the music was delicious, now we all know where to go(es)(!) The singing were as good as that what went before, with only only one random jaberwacky complaining. What a bore!
The standard it was very high, the room was full an' the beer did fly,
4 hours solid of music - sigh!¬ did issue from the throng.
This 'twas the first for many a month and I really have to say, that it is a special place to come and spend a Saturday.
Just now the room is small and cosy, just like a family meeting.
So come to the FILO, drink a convivial jar and spend a Saturday evening.

Hi guys,
Bit of a flatty last Saturday 'cause of flu' and things which is snot nice for musik. But we will not ponder nor flounder, and we have many places to (be)filled(et). Yes, I am a poor sole, some would say a right pollack!
Achtung Ann N - ref 'Arthur' - tubeless, no can find. Who composed it?

See you Saturday. Folk for pleasure!

First In Last out, that's what Whitby's all about.

Hello Charliestu, hope the 'flu's on the wane :)

Eric Theze (with accents on the e's) is the composer, here's the link to a sound file of Arthur Mazurka with the violinist weaving flights of fancy over the bandoneon.

Cheers Ann :)

Another good session last night :) The hours flew by and the acoustics are great .... no straining to hear what someone's singing/playing.

@Stu and Chris, 91 views of the 'FILO Folk' listing on Cnet by this lunchtime :)

@ Alf and Gwen ..... see you in August :D

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but could Stewart or Chris send me a PM when you see this as I've a favour to ask. Don't worry it's not too sinister.

Cheers

Muppett
