Well, he can claim to have reinvented it.
I saw Roy Castle play one, ceramic version, about 40 years ago on the BBC, along with an amazing number of other 'instruments' in a very short time for a Guinness record. Some of them were even 'real' instruments.
I think it was Roy Castle, anyway.
