Hi All,

This is admin from www.bedupako.com, a non profit organization promoting folk music from himalayan mountains and the state of Uttarakhand, India.

The team's strong desire to keep the flame of 'Uttarakhandi Folk' burning amongst the wildfire of modern day hip-hop, jazz, rock etc.; brings the initiative called Bedupako.Com™ to surface.

We are also the first global radio (not for profit) of Uttarakhand.

Please guys, do visit us and listen to songs and advice if any improvements can make our folk genome tank better. We bring singers from remote areas to help preserve the rare form of music, any information you want can be provided in details individually.

Best wishes

Welcome!

Do you have any background information that would help outsiders better understand what we're hearing?

If you click on the song titles on the web page(not the play button) there is information on the songs, including lyrics. This is beautiful music, though I must confess, I'd never heard of Uttarakhand, or it's music, before this.

Sorry for the late response guys.

We have been continuously working to improve the functionalities and the content of www.bedupako.com, however in case if your interest is in knowing about the detailed elements of any songs just copy and paste the song title to the search option or go the desired song directly and click "show details", you may find the description/singer/lyrics etc. for most of the songs available on our site. Majority of the content being written in Hindi/Kumaoni/Garhwali languages sometime makes it difficult for others to grasp, in such instances we encourage you to write us back (either by email at bedupako@gmail.com or by clicking the feedback button (left centre of each page) or to the comment section provided underneath every song details) , especially when you want to know more about any particular song/genre or singer elaborately. Our team would be glad to provide the english translation of same individually. And in the mean time, we would provide the english translation wherever possible.

Keep browsing.

We would like to welcome musical bands to work together for any fusion or hybrid music you may be interested in.

Best Wishes
Team Bedupako

I am so excited to listen to The Staves' new album. I've read that it's great. Their music is so unique and real.
