Subject: Cahalen Morrison/Eli West UK tour From: TopcatBanjo Date: 09 Jul 12 - 06:28 AM The wonderfully talented American duo Cahalen Morrison and Eli West are touring the UK right now (until 23rd July 2012) so if you have any liking at all for great picking (on mandolin, banjo, guitar and bouzouki) and wonderful harmony singing, I recommend that you get out and see them! Their music is a blend of old-timey, bluegrass and folk influences but ends up being something all their own. The material is mostly original songs and tunes by Cahalen but which sound timeless...here's a clip to give you an idea: Cahalen Morrison & Eli West - All for the Sake of Day Shed session - Stone to Sand UK tour dates |
Subject: RE: Cahalen Morrison/Eli West UK tour From: GUEST Date: 09 Jul 12 - 12:35 PM They were stupendous last night in Twickenham. I couldn't have enjoyed it more if it had been Tim O'Brien and Darrell Scott. Mostly original material from the debut and the upcoming albums but also a few traditional and one or two tasteful covers (including Townes Van Zandt's 'Loretta' and Norman Blake's 'Church St Blues') All sung with great subtlety and executed with immense charm on the four gorgeous hand-made instruments outlined above....though I think Cahalen called it an octave mandola...not a bouzouk! (hey, don't let's open that can of worms again) They're in Towersey tonight.....see them if you can. |
