Folkal Point are about to re-issue a 12" vinyl re-mastered version of their original 1972 LP through Hoxa, this will include a bonus track from the Folkal Point archive.

Further archive material will be released in due course, see: www.folkalpointmusic.co.uk

Moving the story along, another release has since surfaced - a CD re-issue by a business called Zeitgeist, who claim copyright since 2015.
This product is being sold via Amazon and is a truly awful - DO NOT BUY THIS CD.

The pay-to-download from Lumi Ent's / Iceni is still available.
No royalties have ever been forthcoming.

Were any of Alan Green's trading names registered businesses?
There can be no direct link between Alan Green's work and the current purveyors of his products - can there?

Top quality authentic Folkal Point material will be made available by Hoxa Sound.

Some years ago I was contacted by an enthusiastic record collector, Bill Summersall from Preston, Lancashire - he told me he had a colleague researching anything related to Alan Green's recordings, with a view to compiling a book.
Bill was pleased to announce that he had then owned all six Midas Recordings albums!
During the exchange of information ( specifically regarding Folkal Point ) I became aware of the other artists who had recorded for Alan on his Midas Recordings label, namely; The Young Folk, Gallery, Janet Jones, Spinning Jenny, The Oldest Profession, and of course ourselves.
Bill enquired whether we had recorded on any of Alan's other labels; Folk Heritage and Westwood, I'd been aware of - however, Real and Hardwick, I didn't recognise at all.
Coincidentally, a Folkal Point track had been included on a sampler LP.
That LP was released on Windmill - I do not know Alan Green's association with that particular label.
Whether anything was ever published, or even, if Bill is still around - I have no idea?
I have been engaged in other matters, relating to copyright, ownership and recording artists rights.
Pay To Download has thrown up some rather strange anomalies.
Companies that have had no historic connection with Alan Green now lay claim to copyright, certainly on the Folkal Point LP, since 2011.
So, if anybody out there is able to clarify what has happened, in the period since Alan's death, I too would be grateful.

Hi.
I don't know if you're the person I supplied info to before? I spent a substantial amount of time at mid wales sound in the later 70s and early 80s and can help. Please email me through www.philbeer.co.uk. The two people with the most comprehensive knowledge of Alan and his activities are Joe Stead and Paul Downes. Both should be easlily contactable.
Phil Beer

Hi I'm Glen Howe, with my brother Paul Howe we recorded an album with Alan Green in the early 70's album reference MFR039 'Paul and Glen'. We come from Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire and we recorded 12 tracks at Alan Green's studio in Cheadle Hulme. One track was also included on Folk Heritage various artists album Windmill WMD179 produced by Alan Green at Folk Heritage Recordings, Mid-Wales Sound Studios. Unfortunately we don't really remember anything about Alan himself to tell you.
Kind regards
Glen Howe

You should get in touch with Steve from The Victor Mourning who posts hee ocassionally as Victor Mourning. He too has been doing some research into Alan Green/Folk Heritage. Also speak to Phil Beer who played on loads of those albums and Paul Adams from Fellside.

I first recorded an album, Gowerton Fair, for Joe Stead's Sweet Folk All label in 1977 in Mid-Wales. Alan Green was the engineer, and we recorded it in a day!

Hi Catters

I am currently working on a book about the Folk Heritage and Midas record labels that were run by the late Alan Green.

I am trying to contact any musicians who recorded for these labels in the late 1960s and through the 1970s.

If you knew Alan, please get in touch via the thread or via a private message.

Additionally, if anyone can give ANY info whatsoever on the following artists, it would be much appreciated. Most of the following were probably based in the Lancashire / Cheshire / Derbyshire areas, but could have come from further afield

MacDonald Folk Group
Porter Cunningham
Tim Verlander
Penny Wager
Mossley Band
The Jovial Crew
Mint Julep
The Young Folk
Paul and Glen
Gwen and Gordon
Parke
Blue Horizon
Folkways
Oldest Profession
The Bards

Thanks in advance
LL
