We are sorry to have to report the passing of David Albinson on 25th August after a bravely fought battle with pancreatic cancer.

It's fair to say that Dave has left a considerable hole in Stortfolk – and in many other places as well. A long-time resident at the club, one of the founding members of the Beerfordbury Mummers side and Wassail crew, PegLeg Unicorn musician, writer, composer and (frequently eccentric) performer. Dave wasn't a regular contributor to Mudcat, but he did lurk a bit and will be known to several here.

It's astonishing to think that his last "folk" gig was in mid-June, in Abtenau, Austria and that in Mid-July he was on stage in Harlow with a substantial role in a new play.

To say that we'll miss him would be a major understatement and our hearts and thoughts go out to Monica and the family.

I first met Dave and Monica in Much Hadham in 1996 (when Bob Hawkes organised a series of folk Saturdays in East Herts for people who preferred live music to the Eurovision football championships), and they were kind enough to come to our CD launch at Herga in 2009 (and buy the CD). I very much enjoyed Dave's singing, playing and mumming and am very sad to hear of his passing. All best wishes to Monica and family.
