Subject: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: Malc Bedworth Date: 29 Aug 12 - 08:33 AM Plans are now all (more or less!) finalised for Bedworth 2012, and early ticket sales have been very brisk. Our full up-to-date line-up and booking service is available at our web site Bedworth Folk Festival . As always we have a line-up for all tastes, but mainly aimed at PARTICIPATION, be it singing, playing, dancing, there should be something in the line-up for you! As has now become the "tradition" we start off on friday with singarounds at The Old Black Bank and Bedworth Civic Hall (which will also host two friday night concerts) and the Men In Black rock'n'roll session at The Rugby Club. Saturday sees a whole series of concerts, folk clubs, singarounds, artiste "meets", dance displays, a large craft fair, based in and around Bedworth Civic Hall and Arts Centre and the Grand Ceilidh with Steamchicken and Sheena Masson in the fabulous dance hall of the Bedworth Liberal Club. Sundays starts off with the popular "Breakfast Sing" at The Rugby Club and then more concerts, singarounds and tune sessions during the day at The Rugby Club, The Old Black Bank and Bedworth Arts Centre, with the final Concert and sing around going late into the evening. Finally if you want to help us with the festival we are always looking for good reliable stewards - see our stewards page on the web site, we offer a free week-end ticket in exchange for your help Follow this link for Stewards Information Thanks for your time, Malc. |

As always all events at The Old Black Bank are Free Admission but we do appreciate a small ((or LARGE!!)) donation towards the running of the Festival! Malc. |

Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: GUEST,Beverly Date: 03 Oct 12 - 10:22 PM Malc, Johnny Collins once told me that the only way he could get out of Bedworth FF was to present you with a death certificate. I'm guessing, not even that will work and his memory will live on. Since this festival is around my birthday, I've always wanted to attend. Not this year. But soon. |

Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: Malc Bedworth Date: 25 Oct 12 - 07:45 AM Hi all, just a bit of an update! I am delighted to say the the venue crisis is now solved and we WILL have the Rugby Club for the whole of the week-end, so Friday Night Rock'n'roll Party followed by the late night sing, and Saturday evening concert followed by another late sing Sunday events (Singing Breakfast and lunchtime/afternoon concert) will be back to normal with those lovely girls at The Rugby Club cooking Chilli and Curry etc both evenings and serving breakfasts from 9am Sat/Sun morning. Although we will have slightly smaller floor space for the Craft Fair due to the flood damage at The Civic Hall, none of the upstairs song events will be affected so all will go ahead as usual at the Civic Hall Friday and Saturday (The Ceilidh will be held in the very nicely appointed Liberal Club, just 50 yards from the Civic Hall) I really must thank the management and staff at both The Civic Hall and The Rugby Club for working with us to get all of this in place. The outline programme should be on the web site within the next two weeks. Book your tickets quickly especially if you want caravan/campervan parking as space is rapidly running out! Thanks for your time. Malc Web site link - Bedworth Folk Festival |

We're so sorry to miss Bedworth this year!! Ps. there probably won't be a Mudraffle this year, please hoard you white elephants till next year! PPs. Be gentle with the lovely Noreen, play nice! |

Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: Zany Mouse Date: 17 Nov 12 - 03:20 PM Refresh again Only a week to go now. Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: Malc Bedworth Date: 17 Nov 12 - 03:28 PM In view of changes within the local Borough council, and the potential loss of our support from them it is very likely that this will be the last Bedworth Folk Festival (certainly in it's current form!) - so it would be really great if we could go out with a bang! Tickets are still available from the web site, or as walk ups (although it will be doubtful, in view of limited space, that we will be able to accept any caravans or campervans not booked in advance) Web site: BEDWORTH FOLK FESTIVAL or if you want any info drop us an email: FESTIVAL MAIL Hope to see you there for the last big party! Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: WindhoverWeaver Date: 17 Nov 12 - 04:37 PM Couldn't believe it when I got the email about this yesterday! Love the festival, always a part of our year, a must-do that gets added before much else. Hope a sponsor can be found, or, if not, that a revised format can be found. |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: MoorleyMan Date: 17 Nov 12 - 05:09 PM I just opened my emails to find one containing the bombshell mentioned above by Malc, Rhiannon and WW. That's really really sad news, as Bedworth Festival has been such a part of my life for the past ten years, a true constant when so many other festivals have let me down big-time. Malc, you've done such a fantastic job keeping it going and run so well against all the odds and everything this fickle world has thrown at you and your team. Echoing Rhiannon, please don't keep me out of the loop for whatever you can manage to get together in the future, cos I just can't not be involved and you have my total support mate. |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: Herga Kitty Date: 19 Nov 12 - 10:39 AM Refresh - hope lots of Catters will come to Bedworth, and it would really be nice if some of you could get to the Black Bank to start singing with Derek and me at 5 on Friday! Kitty |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: My guru always said Date: 19 Nov 12 - 04:29 PM We were so very sorry to get the news that this might be the last Bedworth in its current incarnation. We're kicking ourselves that we won't be there to help Bedworth go out with a bang! BUT, we have high hopes that Malc and the team might be able to organise something next year, probably scaled down, possibly more DIY as so many festivals have had to do during these lean times. Along with many others I'll be happy to give whatever assistance I can to keep something going. Meanwhile, huge thanks to Malc and the team for having put so much effort in over the years to give us so many great Bedworth Festivals! Have a fab time this weekend, our hearts will be with you! |

Black Bank, Saturday 15.30- 17.30, and Malc has said we can carry on longer if we wish as nothing else is timetabled there. Everyone welcome, to sing/play/dance/contribute in any way you wish :) |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: WindhoverWeaver Date: 20 Nov 12 - 02:27 PM I'll be there. Not sure what I'll bring, chocolate-wise, as I'm not a real lover of the stuff, but I'll find something. |

Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: Malc Bedworth Date: 22 Nov 12 - 04:22 PM Just a day to go and the good news is the weather forecast is 14 degrees warmer than in 2010! A bit wet but not too bad, although it seems some of our guests are having big problems with floods - hope everyone can make it. Hope to see lots of you tomorrow, or at some time over the week-end. Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: WindhoverWeaver Date: 25 Nov 12 - 03:22 PM Our thanks to all as well. Some great acts, some nice singarounds, and a big thanks to Noreen for the mudgather. Shame the attendance seemed to be way down, no doubt due to the weather and the economy, but I think everyone had a good time anyway. Hope those stuck by the flood at the rugby club got home eventually! |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: Noreen Date: 25 Nov 12 - 06:28 PM Thanks for the thanks :) and thanks all for making it so enjoyable. Great singing, and great hospitality from the new team at the Old Black Bank where I spent a fair part of the weekend. Mudgather went very well, thanks to all who came- including Gill and Malc who took time out from organising to enjoy themselves with us. Mudcat register will be posted when I've unpacked it. Missed you Hils, but we coped :) Weather added interest to the weekend.... those of us staying at the Rugby Club found our exit blocked today by a flooded road after the torrential rain of the last few days and all of last night. Today was spent waiting (in a nice warm pub of course, with tea on tap!) to see whether the flood would recede sufficiently to allow us off, before the next forecast downpour arrived. Fear was that if we didn't get off today we'd be there til the end of the week. A few of us risked it late on this afternoon, successfully- how did everyone else do? there were quite a few still there when we left. |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: MoorleyMan Date: 26 Nov 12 - 05:28 AM Yeah well done Noreen, and glad you made it back safely. I only just made it back to Yorkshire before the current downpour (15 hours and still going strong)... But thanks also to Malc for another fine Bedworth despite a noticeably falling attendance and all the other problems that were thrown at him with venues and stuff. Keeping things going (I won't dare say "and afloat"!) and with such confidence and expertise is a cherishable and valuable quality - so congrats again, Malc and team, and let's hope this hasn't been the last Bedworth after all. |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 23rd - 25th November 2012 From: Herga Kitty Date: 26 Nov 12 - 09:19 AM Big thanks to Malc, Gill and the team for another great weekend despite all the problems, to Noreen for the Mudgather and chocolate brownies and to everyone who came and supported our singaround sessions in the Black Black and Arts Centre! Derek managed to extricate the campervan from the rugby club car park before our final singaround, and we arrived back in Bournemouth shortly after midnight. Hope to see some of you at Haddenham next Saturday! Kitty |
