Subject: South Portland Maine Song Circle 10/6/12 From: SINSULL Date: 02 Oct 12 - 07:50 PM Calico Jack had to cancel so we will have an informal song circle at SINSULL's on Saturday starting around 6PM. Buffet, wine, soft drinks -the usual. I have a free bed if someone wants to stay over. Be forewarned. The house is in chaos and will remain so. I lost some documents required to claim a pension and am emptying boxes that have not seen the light of day in four years. So...who is willing to brave the dust and cat hair and join us on Saturday? Subject: RE: South Portland Maine Song Circle 10/6/12 From: GUEST Date: 03 Oct 12 - 11:34 AM I would like to get in touch with the person(s) organizing this event. I have been organizing and hosting what I think is a similar weekly event in Fredericton, New Brunswick since January 2011. I would like to chat with others who have organized such events to discuss/share ideas, problems, and maybe establish a link between similar events where traveling musicians could stop in at other similar events. I understand that some events are private while others public so this may or may not work, however I would still greatly enjoy discussing your experience. Cheers! JY (JYsMusicCircle@gmail.com) |

Subject: RE: South Portland Maine Song Circle 10/6/12 From: jacqui.c Date: 07 Oct 12 - 02:16 PM A small group, but we had a great time. Good food, a drop of the falling down water and terrific company made for a very good evening. We made a new friend, Richard, up from Nantucket, who fit into the group perfectly and renewed acquaintance with Irene, over from the UK for her annual visit. SINSULL and I kept Irene and Richard company at the rail station while they waited for the Downeaster. There was a lot of laughter - I guess we were drawing attention as one of the staff threatened, with a smile on her face, to put us all in detention. |

Subject: RE: South Portland Maine Song Circle 10/6/12 From: SINSULL Date: 08 Oct 12 - 09:38 AM I believe what Kendall said at the time is that Chief pontiacs starter shit the bed. We did have a good time. But breakfast and the wait at the station were hilarious. After threatening us with detention, the ticket taker came back and joined in the silliness with tales of duplcate earrins as gifts from her husband. Funny lady who seemed grateful for the distraction unlike the prune in white who sneered at us in utter contempt only provokine more laughter. Another gentleman stopped by and laughed out loud at something of his own - I believe we created a "scene" Richard fits right in. Very quick and funny while managing not to insult (barely). I knew he was one of us when he took Alice's ministrations to his jacket right in stride. God bless Alice. It was good to have Tom and Deb with us. Been a while. Retirement agrees with her. She looks great. Tom is now moving up in politics. I don't know - we managed to get past his being a lawyer...but a career politician????? Maybe if he keeps the curries coming. Thank you all for making this a very laid back and enjoyable weekend. SINS |
Subject: RE: South Portland Maine Song Circle 10/6/12 From: Marmdad Date: 10 Oct 12 - 08:51 PM Enjoyed it immensely, hopefully we get to do it again next year. Irene and I had a nice trip on the downeaster, who knows we may have to make this an annual thing. Had a good time at the train station and breakfast, just too bad Mary is so sensitive about everything :-). I also understand that was my last trip to Portland, something about being a disruptive person and some of the natives took offense. Screw 'em I'll be back. Tell Alice no hard feelings, but payback is a female dog. If I had known the test to be let into the group was so easy I wouldn't have studied so hard. haha. Richard |
Subject: RE: South Portland Maine Song Circle 10/6/12 From: Midchuck Date: 10 Oct 12 - 09:41 PM Kris and I almost came over. Kendall put the bite on us to, and we were some tempted. But we had duo gigs (foliage tour bus groups) Friday and Tuesday - and it turned out that we picked up a last-minute-replacement gig for Sunday afternoon as well. Let us know if you're planning more of these after the tourist season dies down, but before serious snow. Peter |
