Hello Mudcat World!

Just thought I'd drop by to let you all know that I've been asked to start a brand new Folk Club in Stourbridge, West Midlands. The Folk Club will be run in conjunction with the local live music venue - Katie Fitzgerald's.

The opening night of the Stourbridge Folk Club will be Tuesday 20th November and we will be starting of with the fantastic Julie Felix. Doors open at 7.30pm, start at 8.15pm, tickets a bargain at £10.

After this we'll be having a singer's night on 4th December, followed by the brilliant singer & master guitarist that is Mr. Paul Downes, on 18th December.

Good luck with it. And if you can build it up to being weekly, people will be more likely to remember when it's on.

Weekly is the best bet - Its far too easy for any one who isnt there every week to lose track if its not weekly .
And an Address and postcode will make it easier to find too .

Is there any chance that there will be an ongoing video of each of the shows (including singers nights) that will or can be posted on Youtube? I know that other folk clubs do regularly post their performers on Youtube (of both well known and the unknown performers). Don't know if you will set up to do that but just thought it might be nice to see the artists that will be performing there. Wish I could see them in person but I am about 6,000 miles away. :-))
Also am a fan of Julie Felix and have several of her recordings.
Read somewhere she used to live or was born in Santa Barbara, California. Wonder if she ever tours or plans to tour in U.S.A?

Hello all. For some reason Mudcat won't let me post to the original thread on this...

Thank you for all the messages of encouragement.

Unfortunately with being busy gigging myself at the moment I'm unable to commit to running the club every week - this might change though depending on how well the club goes!

I'll see what I can do re youtube video's. Unfortunately Julie's contract states that filming is not allowed - so as and when I can I'll try and film the concerts.
