Subject: New Xmas CD? From: Alio Date: 04 Nov 12 - 07:15 PM Does anyone know of any new folk Xmas CD's this year? I always choose a new Xmas CD as the CD of the Month for December on my Sounds of Folk radio programme, and I've had plenty to choose from in previous years, but I can't find one this time. Help someone! Ali x |

Subject: RE: New Xmas CD? From: Suegorgeous Date: 04 Nov 12 - 08:28 PM Ali I'm just nearing completion of my own Xmas EP - don't know if that would be a contender? it'll be 3 or 4 tracks, a mix of trad folk and my own songs, all in folk vein. It's mainly for giving away at my gigs, but would be honoured if you'd consider it. Sue |
Subject: RE: New Xmas CD? From: GUEST,Lin Date: 04 Nov 12 - 08:59 PM I was listening to Holiday Cd's on CD Baby and although there is a Holiday genre - for all styles of music, you can also type in Folk - Holiday for a lot of folk or celtic holiday CDs. I listened to a few and came across some artists (unknown to me) who had some nice Christmas CD's. One is a singer named CARRIE BOWEN who has a CD called, "Sleepy Little Town." You can only hear short samples of each song but heard some songs on this CD that sounded very nice. Especially liked, "Mary's Lullaby" "Noel" and "More" from this CD. Another nice Christmas CD is by another unknown folk singer named, LEAH SALOMAA. She has a CD called, Under a Winter Star." Really liked her version of "All Through the Night." A well known Celtic type folk group who I have known about for years, called GOLDEN BOUGH, have a very nice CD called, "Christmas in a Celtic Land." I have seen this group in concert over the years and they sometimes tour in Europe and all over USA. Originally from California but now they live in Oregon and have been together for many years. Really like their Christmas CD. |

Subject: RE: New Xmas CD? From: Barbara Shaw Date: 04 Nov 12 - 10:28 PM It's not a CD, but Frank and I just released a single called "Every Day Is Christmas." It's not our full ShoreGrass band, just the two of us doing all the instruments and vocals, recorded in our home studio. You can hear a sample on Amazon at ShoreGrass: Every Day Is Christmas or a different sample on CDBaby at ShoreGrass: Every Day Is Christmas. |
Subject: RE: New Xmas CD? From: Chris Green Date: 05 Nov 12 - 05:48 AM Hi Ali We have not one, but two Christmas CDs out - 'A Victorian Christmas' and 'A Medieval Christmas'. We're touring both shows nationwide this December as well, so radio play would be a definite bonus! Websites for each show is www.amedievalchristmas.co.uk and www.avictorianchristmas.co.uk If you wanted to pm me your address I'd be very happy to post you a copy of each one! Cheers Chris |
Subject: RE: New Xmas CD? From: Alio Date: 05 Nov 12 - 09:59 PM This is great! I didn't expect to get so many ideas / possibilities - and a lot of talent out there as well! Thanks very much all of you. I'd really love to get hold of Until The Dark Time Ends - that sounds just right. I'll do as you suggest and go on the CAMSCO website. And I'm going to pm my address to Barbara, Sue and Chris to see if it's OK to send me a copy. I promise we'll play tracks from every Xmas CD sent! Cheers everybody, Ali x |
Subject: RE: New Xmas CD? From: Arkie Date: 06 Nov 12 - 10:47 AM While neither is new this year, Cooper and Nelson and Atwater and Donnelly both have Christmas CDs. Phil Cooper pops up on Mudcat occasionally. I have not heard either CD but have them on my must have list. Have other recordings from both artists that are consistently exceptional. |
