Hi friends.
I'm writing to request some of those good mudcat vibes for Ebbie. A huge fire in her apartment building last night has displaced all of the residents, and done severe damage to the building. Ebbie is safe and sound, as is her beloved little dog, both of whom are secure in my home now. No one's been allowed back in as yet, so we don't know the status of her apartment, or her belongings. She has my computer and I'm sure will be checking in when she can. In the meantime, thanks for sending your kind thoughts her way. KT

Ohhh! This is SO sad! I feel for ALL the folks who lost things, but Ebbie is who I/we know!

It will be difficult for a bit but be assured that it will get better. Hate fires, went through it as well. I'm a little far to offer help but sure hope you have folks close that will be there for you.

Dear Elva, it's Bruce here. I expect the Mennonite community is now aware, but if in getting to them you need a place to stay for as long as you want with a room of your own, and Toto too, you have one here. Three squares a day, but the dog has to get used to the skunk. Charley has an attitude.

Please don't think you have no place to go. You do.

Thanks for the link, Maggie. Hoping against hope the devastation is not as bad as projected.

KT and Ebbie, will wait a few days or a week for "the dust to settle", then send a pm to begin to learn what might be needed instrumentally that some of us here on Mudcat might be able to help with, even in small ways.

Oh Ebbie, remembering seeing your lovely smile as you and KT pushed S'mores ingredients at us through the computer screen at the Getaway campfire just a few short weeks ago. Ebbie, I am so sorry! So you lived in the Gastineau! We stayed there many years ago when we were transferred to Juneau. It was still a hotel then. It is such a wonderful downtown location! I hope you will soon have a new home. Is it going to be rebuilt? It's a great old landmark.
