It's Sinead O'Connor all right. Or Father Sinead as we refer to her in Holy Catholic Ireland. (that's irony, just in case your wondering).

To Rog Peek:

Thanks for posting the link to watch this program. Really enjoyed it very much! I am in California and have never seen Christy Moore in concert. Don't think he gets to California very often, although I did see his brother, Barry Moore (Luka Bloom) in a concert venue back in the late 80's here. I loved seeing him in concert!!!
Not really a fan of Sinead O'Conner (don't care for some of the controversial things she has done)... and haven't always liked her music either... but I did enjoy her singing on this program with Christy Moore!

I should have added that thanks too, Rog. We saw Christy in Liverpool in April. I don't know why he's my favourite but I've loved him for decades. Great link, old chap! :-)

Rog, you just made me a very happy man. Thank you so much for this link. I totally enjoyed it. One of my very favorite song is "Bright Blue Rose". To have the privilege of these two great singers in my music room performing for me was special indeed. Think I will watch it again.

and yes , it is Sinead.

That's me very happy too Rog, Jimmy McCarthy singing Bright Blue Rose! Blimey that's a good start to the day. Plus I saw a link to a Boney M programme for later!
Late for starting work now.

Thanks for the identification, I suppose I should have recognised her myself, perhaps it was the hair. Glad you enjoyed Christy Moore. Christy, Declan Sinnott and Donal Lunny, three of the best. Jimmy McCarthy a bonus.
As I am in England, I can't watch RTE tv, so I am regular visitor to RTE Player. Here's a Paul Brady
concert from 1976 with Arty McGlynn, Andy Irvine and Donal Lunny you may also enjoy.

Submitted the first posting, it failed to appear. Sent the second one and they both came up. Suppose the second attempt picked the first up on its way!!!

Enjoyed watching that, you can still see good music on Irish TV regularly, unlike England. I've never been lucky enough to see Christy live, yet, though I've been mistaken for him 3 times on my regular visits back home. I hasten to add in looks, but I'm learning one or two of his songs

At a recent quiz in Kinvara, one of the questions was (give or take a few defective memory cells):
Luka Bloom is the stage name of Christy Moore's brother. What was his baptismal name?

The answer is NOT Barry...

I love Christy Moore, nowever, if you go to see/hear him in Glasgow, you better sport a Glasgow Celtic football club scarf. Through no fault of his own he has become a sectarian symbol amongst the bigots of that town.

Martin- re your post about the quiz question- I take it that the answer was that the baptismal name of Luka Bloom is Kevin Barry Moore.

To Martin Ryan:

Re: Luka Bloom (Christy Moore's brother)

This is the first time that I have learned that "Kevin" is his baptismal name. I know that his first album (I think it was his first album) was under the name, Barry Moore - "Treaty Stone." So now I am wondering if he ever realeased any recordings under his name, Kevin Barry Moore??

GUESTLIn

Hi! My understanding is that , having been named after the patriot Kevin Barry, he was always known as Barry in practice.
