Subject: Tavern versus Café From: Mían Date: 29 Oct 99 - 01:00 PM Suddenly struck me as quare that there are Tavern gatherings but ... um... what about coffeehouse events? Is it because we are already here so we have to go somewhere else? whoa, metaphysical. |
Subject: RE: Tavern versus Café From: MMario Date: 29 Oct 99 - 01:05 PM The Tavern can be whatever you want it to be....it WAS a coffeehouse for several days after the magical mystical makes anything with caffiene in it machine showed up. but then people went back to drinking 'cus the caffiene was hyping everyone up too much. And lately seems to be more of a restauraunt then anything else.....'course it was a zoo, still is most days. |
Subject: RE: Tavern versus Café From: Melbert Date: 29 Oct 99 - 01:13 PM "Tavern" sounds frightfully upmarket! Is there a dress code? |
Subject: RE: Tavern versus Café From: MMario Date: 29 Oct 99 - 01:24 PM hahahahahahahahahahahaah! *wheeze* HAHAHA! oh-hohohohoho! That's funny! |
Subject: RE: Tavern versus Café From: Lonesome EJ Date: 29 Oct 99 - 01:29 PM Mian, I think that the Mudcat Cafe is a more real entity, consisting of the forum, chat, DT, etc. The Tavern is a kind of virtual meeting place, a piece of unreal estate that seems to have shape and structure. It is also a place where anything goes, no conversation is off-limits, and all kinds of physical activity seem to take place. It is a constant in the ever-changing shape of the Cafe itself, and a kind of altar to the concept that, yes, BS, humor, and Guinness has it's place here, too. |
Subject: RE: Tavern versus Café From: MMario Date: 29 Oct 99 - 01:47 PM Melbert - put "tavern" in the filter field for the forum and go back a few weeks....read the threads and you'll learn a lot...probably much more then you want to... |
Subject: RE: Tavern versus Café From: Mían Date: 29 Oct 99 - 03:12 PM O, yes, LEJ, I just was amused at the contrast, is all. I am easily entertained by all sorts of stuff, including the striking similarity between the lovely vile black stuff and a depth charge just after the espresso has been poured on top. yum. |
Subject: RE: Tavern versus Café From: Lonesome EJ Date: 29 Oct 99 - 04:25 PM Mian, if you are easily entertained, you have come to the right place!! Sorry about the long drawn-out explanation of the obvious. :) LEJ |

Subject: RE: Tavern versus Café From: _gargoyle Date: 29 Oct 99 - 10:32 PM I opt for "re-hab-units" conceiferng (consiefering)/considerffin/[considarifin}{conceederin} the number of "DUI's" the honorable "AL GORE" (creator of the Moderen-Internet) would have issued to the "Gang of Twelve," for driving while under the influence along the "Super-Information-Hiway.
Sorry, USA joke....we are in our 4-year-revolution |
