Hey, Mudcatters! Longtime reader, first time poster.

I'm seeking information on either Manly Reece, and early banjoist who served in the confederate army, or Andy Cahan, his biographer.

Specifically, Manly Reece worked with Green Leonard (a fiddler whose tunes eventually made it down to Emmet Lundy and his group) and was the first banjoist known to play with a fiddler (although it had probably happened many times already on the minstrel stage). I've read Andy Cahan's article on Reece with great interest, and am now seeking Reece's letters (he wrote a number of them) from the war years.

Thanks all!

-Bill

Any details of the Andy Cahan biography? - I'd love to read it!

And I'd also like to know more about Green Leonard....
Ray
