A couple of days ago, two cretins from an Australian radio station, made a hoax call to the hospital in London where Kate Middleton was being treated for severe morning sickness. They pretended to be the Queen amd Prince Charles. As a result of this piece of stupidity, the nurse they conned into giving them information, appears to have committed suicide.

I hate practical jokes, and this is a good example of the stupid consequences that can arise from such self indulgent behaviour.

So Henry.. you believe that anyone who plays a totally irresponsible practical joke which may result in someone elses death should not shoulder any responsibility for it? Or the person used to perpetrate such a foul joke should not feel ashamed at being conned in that way so should not react?...... what kind of life have you led?. I believe that everyone on this sad earth should be held personally responsible for what they do.. or cause by their actions.......

Reading the report carefully, it appears that this nurse was not the one who revealed the information. As I perceive it, she answered the call, but it was another nurse who passed the actual details on to the hoaxers. Not that this makes the unfortunate death any the less tragic; but I can't see even what this particular one could have thought she had to reproach herself with in any event.

The DJ's were wrong, no doubt. I don't find it funny. But the article presents no evidence that the call was the reason for the death. In fact it takes pains to present evidence that it was not enough reason. John you have over reacted to the point of using foul language in a thread title. Henry, do you have to express an inane opinion on everything?

No Mike it wasn't her who spoke to the Onanists and gave them details of the nedical condition of Kate. It was she who answered the phone, and put it through to that nurse who gave them the information.

Blimey. I thoroughly dislike all things royal and I must admit to having had a good ol' smirk when the original story came out. This is just horrible, but let's be clear about one thing. Those DJs are not responsible for the death of the nurse. It is going way too far to say that the prank resulted in her death, or the words to that effect that have appeared in a couple of posts above. I suggest we withold judgement until sufficient facts come out, if they ever do.

It seems clear enough that it isn't. Did you carefully read the article you posted? It looks like coincidence so far. Calling the prank the cause of her death is at the very least premature. The article does not even call it a suicide.

I think I have a good explanation as to why the poor lass may have been traumatized by having been the one who put the call through but I don't care to discuss it under the circumstances. Just sad and mad about this and, as usual, pissed at Hank the Crank. The least these assholes should suffer is losing their jobs. I hope they are charged with some form of false impersonation... a lot of radio stations do it but usually with ficticious characters.

A nurse has died. She may or may not have ended her own life, She may or may not have taken the phone call. She may or may not have given information in good faith. It may or may not have provoked her death. BUT a good nurse (the Hospital's words) has died and that in itself is sad, not something to remark upon flippantly. Her family must be devastated, and it's so near to Christmas. I often wonder why some people have little respect or pity for tragedy. Strange.

I am of course sadden by the nurses death. I just don't see the cause and effect, particularly because the only thing we seem to know about the circumstance is this. "They said the death is not being treated as suspicious."

Why don't you defend these tasteless DJ's when and if it is determined that someone has been harmed?
