I thought of this while making a little joke (very little as usual) to Kendall about his photo.

How many times to we get a picture of a recording artist burned into our little brains from a favourite album cover, and then finally see the person live...and it doesn't look like them at all!
I remember going to see Dave Van Ronk a few years ago and thinking (along with the rest of the audience) that he must be gravely ill. Instead of the huge bulky black-bearded blues guy I expected...on stage walked a rail -thin tall gawky blond guy. Somebody must have asked him about this, 'cause in the second set he said: "No, I'm NOT sick! I just don't eat and drink like a pig anymore...and I work out! As to the blond hair: I realized I'd never actually seen a color picture of him!
Now John Prine looks EXACTLY like his pictures!

Great point Rick...and really true of Prine. When I lived in Nashville, it was not uncommon to find "stars" out shopping, at the grocery store, playing softball, etc. So it was kinda' humorous to see the real person as opposed to the stage persona. On the other hand, many of the ones you ran into were very natural folks to begin with. I remember the best one that really ripped me was looking at pullover shirts at J.C. Penney and the guy next to me asked me something about what I thought....I turned and realized it was Ricky Skaggs. There's a long story that goes after this, but that's boring crap...and I want to comment about YOU Rick!!!!!

So who picked out the pix on your cd liner? Specifically, I'm talking about the one of Heather. Folks, please note that Heather (Duckboots) is a far prettier girl than that picture shows! I'm not joking here.....Is that the best you could come up with? Its a great album, but if I was Heather, I'd divorce your ass!

I know she loves you, but you can't push your luck like that. Guys like us are unbelievably lucky to have found a woman to tolerate us on a 24/7 basis, so you have to watch it.

Spaw

Duckboots didn't know she be in an album liner. She's very shy and it was hard enough to find a photo of her in the first place.

When I saw Van Morrison live I couldn't believe that the little fat bald guy in the banker's suit was the handsome devil on "Astral Weeks"!

Rick, your thread set me thinking about misleading album names. How about naming an album "From the album of the same name." This should ensure lots of free plugs from DJ's who still insist on using the cliche!

And, it can carry over to the recordingstudio/music stores, too. We have a small one here. Small storefront, but good equipment and I've heard knowledgable people. If you look them up on their website, it shows a huge, four-storey modern office building with all the implications that entails! I was talkign with the owner ont eh phone one day and teased him about it; he didn't have much of an explanation.
