Subject: 2 New Scorpion Band workshops Lewes Feb From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 21 Dec 12 - 03:30 AM On Saturday 9th February the New Scorpion Band are doing two all-day workshops for Lewes Saturday Folk Club. Both workshops are for any instrument and would make a splendid Christmas present for a musician. In the evening the New Scorpion Band perform at Lewes Saturday Folk Club. Sharon Lindo and Robert White lead the workshop on 'Style and Interpretation of Traditional Music'. Robin Jeffrey and Brian Gulland lead the workshop on 'Early Music for Folk Musicians'. Tim Laycock contributes to both, and the two workshops will join up for the final session of the day. The booking form for the Tradtional Music workshop is here and the booking form for the Early Music workshop is here. Valmai (Lewes) |

Subject: RE: 2 New Scorpion Band workshops Lewes Feb From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 26 Jan 13 - 08:56 AM Hurrah! The advance music for the Early Music for Folk Musicians workshop has arrived and is now being sent out. We still have places left for both workshops - the music for the Interpretation of Traditional Music worskhop will be ready soon as well. Robin Jeffrey writes: 'Here are some parts for the historical workshop. Ah Robin and Soldiers Three are unaccompanied vocals. La Mantovana is instrumental. La Coranto and My Lord of Oxenford are cut & paste copies to be going on with, I will prepare better ones. Tell people not to worry about the little fiddly notes, that's just editorial stuff. The distinction between vocal and instrumental is not absolute, there are several pieces which are suitable for both - as there are people in the workshop who both sing and play. We will have basically vocal repertoire for one session and basically instrumental for the other, but I think we will end up mixing things.' |

Subject: RE: 2 New Scorpion Band workshops Lewes Feb From: Valmai Goodyear Date: 03 Feb 13 - 06:34 AM An interesting mixture of tunes for the Interpreting Traditional Music workshop is emerging from the participants and band members as well. Don't forget that the Scorpions perform at Lewes Saturday Folk Club in the evening. We still have some tickets left but they are going fast. Valmai (Lewes) |
