Cajun fans may have noticed that they're using Hee-Haw Breakdown (by Nolan Cormier, I believe) on the latest 118118 adverts!

Is that what it was? I was wondering. I'd guessed the Balfa Brothers until the vocal came in. It's a good track.

DH: I thought I was watching too much telly, but I've only heard this one about three times.
Either you are easily sickened, or you need to get out more.
Tell you what though - it does funny things to your feet. Makes them go up and down rhythmically. What's that all about?
JK

I've only heard it once. That makes me some kind of king, on this thread.

Unless someone else posts to say:

1) They haven't got a tele
2) They have a tele but haven't seen it yet
3) They only heard half of it when they turned on (or off) midway through.

I really enjoyed Vashti Bunyan's Diamond Day album, but that was killed for me by the Orange advert. Ah well.

Or - rembering that this is an international forum:
4) they are in a different country.

I have only heared it once so far

Something to do with it being a dance tune perhaps?

I haven't heard Vashti Bunyan's Diamond Day album at all. That makes me Lord of All I Behold...or summat.
"something to do with it being a dance tune?"....I dunno; I've heard some dance tunes that have had me snoring loudly.

Oo thanks for the info; I recognised it as Cajun (and a reet foot tapper too!) But I don't know much about cajun artists. I can sound clever now?

Not cajun - its zydeco.
Alternative name for the tune is Zydeco Hee-Haw.
My favourite take on this tune is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qncJIc77i_M

It's true that there are zydeco versions of this song out there, Ken (e.g. Geno Delafose and Boozoo Chavis [as you mentioned]) but Nolan Cormier played Cajun, and this version is definitely Cajun. (The prominent fiddle and persistent steel guitar are dead giveaways! :-))

Pretty much, Ken, but we have got a fiddle player now! Just call it zydeco with a sprinkling of neo-Cajun and a soupcon of swamp rock! :-)

A great tune just makes me want to two step. It was part of my Christine's band's (now no longer playing), set list. Brian

I believe The phrase he uses in the song is "lache aller" which means "let them loose" or "let them go".
