Experienced fiddle/guitar duo looking for lively tunes sessions, NW region.
Any ideas?

Wrex

Two quite large areas. Some parts more accessible than others depending on where you are travelling from.
You might get more useful answers if you mention your start location.
Quack!

Blackburn - but as indicated in the subject line I'm happy to travel all over Lancs/West Yorks if it's to a good session.

These might be helpful, if you've not already tried them:

http://www.yorkshire-folk-arts.com/    Select "YFA Directory" on the left, then about half way down click on "Sessions, West Yorkshire"

http://thesession.org/sessions/search?day=&q=lancashire

http://thesession.org/sessions/search?day=&q=yorkshire

The session at the Slubbers Arms in Huddersfield is still going strong, apparently, next one March 7th..

You've probably already thought of this, but your local morris side musicians might know of sessions.

Good luck,

Joy

Not strictly tunes sessions but it has a Blackburn postcode so people there may be able to help you....

The Moorcock Inn, Gisburn Rd Blacko BB9 6NG.

New website for the pub : www.moorcockinnblacko.com

Wednesday night, monthly, latest one yesterday - tunes 7.30 til 8.30 then a free folk club, good food, log fire, real it (it says here)   also on Saturdays they have a session which is apparently round the room but people join in with each other - not sure how much is singing or tunes. Very high standard apparently.

good luck

Joy

Ask Richard Moss, works in Reidys music shop, Blackburn. He'll know!

If Lancaster isn't too far, there's an Irish session on Tuesdays and a non-Irish session on Thursdays at the Gregson:

Gregson community and arts centre

There are definitely sessions in Preston but don't know where and there's a good one in Billinge as well (Thursday) but someone will have to let you know where because I've forgotten!
