Our monthly shanty, forebitter, and ballad song session will be happening this Saturday, April 20th, at The Press Room on Daniel St. in Portsmouth, NH from 3:30 to 7:30 PM.

Tom, alas, has been missing the Friday trad sessions since February and then missed last month's shanty sing because he fell in front of The Press Room the evening before. He's been working with some off-and-on foot and ankle pain that's made walking problematic. But the pain has been considerably less lately and he's making great progress with his physical therapist. And, fortunately, the weather looks as if it will cooperate this week. Who knows, might even start acting like spring.

So, with a clear sidewalk and lots of incentive, Tom will definitely try to be at Saturday's sing.

Hope we see YOU there!
Linn

Linn and Tom-

I'm off to NEFFA this weekend. Maybe I'll catch some of the regulars in Gloucester at the Dog Bar when I'm working my way back up North.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Lynn,
So good to hear Tom is making progress.
I will be there too! I am doing well, surgeon discovered a second tear so the repairs were more involved than we thought. However, I returned to work two days after surgery and am feeling better and better every day!

We're heading to tonight's weekly trad session at The Press Room in about an hour.

Practice for tomorrow.

Tom will be there tomorrow. He will NOT make the same mistake he made last month. (He'll be using the walker, not just a cane.)

Tom will be there, too -- he didn't run into any walking snags yesterday at the weekly trad session.

And I KNOW there will be more people there than have "signed in" here.

Yes, LOTS more singers plus two groups -- one from Connecticut and the other from Vermont -- who wandered in by accident (for a late lunch) and enjoyed the music intensely. One gentleman even gave us a song (after requesting a number of others).

More tomorrow.

Wish I could have been there. Soon, soon, when the rest of the crew comes back and it's not just me and Andy keeping the park from becoming over-run with cidiots and tourons.

Let's get started. First, the crew -- Curmudgeon (Tom Hall) and I, of course, Dianne Lavoie, Mike Modern from Kittery, Maine (I think the only representative from Maine this month), Bob Eaton, Steve from Gloucester and his wife, Erin & Lindsay Weaver from Vermont, Don Hale from waaaay south in Massachusetts, Jeri, Ernie Pigeon & Amy from Newburyport, MA, W.B., Justine Donovan & Steve Smith, Carol Coronis, Barbara Benn, Jean Jennings(!!! -- we don't see her often enough), Jeff Warner, and Irish singer newly arrived in the area Sean Fell.

Took awhile to get the drums, etc. of the jazz people moved out so we could set up and then getting the piped in music shut off seemed to be another project. Then we seemed to have trouble getting jump started, so Mike Modern kicked in with a little ditty...

Yet another Fun Session! Linn, a couple of notes re: the song titles.

#27: Given as "Fire! Fire!" with "Fire Down Below" in parenthesis on the "Short Sharp Shanties, Vol. 1 CD. Should help differentiate it from the more familiar one Jeri sang.

#39: Should be "Feeny Brown", as sung by Barry Finn.

Thanks, Don. I always appreciate corrections, etc. If I don't know the title, I try to research it, but sometimes my remembered lyrics (from my notes) just don't hit the right combination. (Or I just plain have a brain cramp.)
