Subject: Pennine Way BBC Music Workshop music needed From: GUEST,GUEST Kath B Date: 18 Apr 13 - 09:22 AM I found a thread http://mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=56481 relating to this but the email address given seems no longer active. I have the words for these songs but I need the music to use in school, originally from BBC Music Workshop broadcasts in 1971. Can anyone help? |

Subject: RE: Pennine Way BBC Music Workshop From: GUEST,Kath B Date: 19 Apr 13 - 03:37 AM Sorry! I will try to be clearer. The songs were a collection used in 1971 as part of the BBC Music Workshop broadcasts. They were published in small booklets containing melody lines and words, but there would also have been an expanded edition of the music available with full accompaniments. The songs were about various stages on the Pennine Way:for example, there was one about the Pendle Witches, another about the brass band competition at Hardraw. I made copies of the words to use with young singers, which I still have, and although I can recreate some of the music from memory, it would help to have some or all of the written music as I would love to teach the songs again. The front cover is viewable at http://www.lightstraw.co.uk/faded/notes/workshop1.html#Stage_2 if that helps to jog any memories. I'm pursuing links from this site, but any other help would be gratefully received. Thanks! |

Subject: RE: Pennine Way BBC Music Workshop From: Steve Gardham Date: 23 Apr 13 - 05:29 PM Hi Kath, I'm involved in the Yorkshire Garland website. I wonder if you could post either a summary of what is there, or even a list, please. Are we talking about traditional folk songs, songs written at the time or something else? Thanks, Dave. |
Subject: RE: Pennine Way BBC Music Workshop From: GUEST,GREG Date: 15 Sep 16 - 03:04 PM I found this thread when I was also looking for the Pennine Way Spring 1971 Music Workshop. Just to let you know I obtained a copy of the original pamphlet directly from the BBC Archive for a very modest sum. They still own copyright so if anyone does provide a copy to you get the Beeb permission first. Refards |
