Subject: Blues in Southport Sunday From: LesB Date: 04 May 13 - 12:11 PM Fran McGillivray & Mike Burke are singing the Blues at Bothy Folk Club Southport Fran & Mike started playing folk, roots and blues venues in the late 1970s and appeared at the Cambridge Folk Festival in 1977. Mike used three guitars, two vintage - a Gibson J45 and a Gibson ESI 25 -plus a Chinese-built resonator. Fran played a Fender Jazz bass plus a flute, though her main instrument is her exquisite voice with which she leads in the vocals department. Think Bonnie Raitt meets Rory Block and you get some idea of the quality and range Cheers Les |
