Subject: Songs w/ same chords as Heart & Soul From: Crowhugger Date: 29 May 13 - 11:40 AM I'm putting together an a cappella sing-along medley of songs that use the same chords as Heart and Soul. The plan: We'll teach accompaniment parts to the audience, chorus members will spread out amongst them to help keep that on track, and one or more designated soloists will karaoke the melody over that. I know there are many songs to fit the bill but I can only think of Sh-boom. Please, what others?? |

Subject: RE: Songs w/ same chords as Heart & Soul From: wordfella Date: 30 May 13 - 07:31 AM You're referencing a 1-6m-4-5 pattern. Sometimes the 4 is 2m7. Here are some: "Runaround Sue" "Stand by Me" "Goodnight Sweetheart" "Sleepwalk" (though it's 4m) "Hey Baby" "Blue Moon" "26 Miles" |

Subject: RE: Songs w/ same chords as Heart & Soul From: Joe_F Date: 04 Jun 13 - 07:53 PM Isn't there one that goes I vi ii V (e.g., C Am Dm G) instead? What's *it* called? Or have I been mishearing it all these years? |
Subject: RE: Songs w/ same chords as Heart & Soul From: Crowhugger Date: 05 Jun 13 - 12:13 AM For many songs the 2 chord patterns are interchangeable. When I was a kid fooling at piano 4 hands (with bro or mom), whomever was doing the accompaniment routinely swapped in and out various majors, minors and 7ths while the other improvised melodies. Basically a very fun jam for us kids. I think mom got more than a little bored with the repetition ad infinitum. |
