Are there any other Cats who had My Space site pages? The "new improved" version of this "service" has eliminated content with no warning, and no apparent possibility of retrieving blog info, videos or other personal info which used to reside on the "old" site. I see comments from many others who are angry, as pictures of people no longer alive, and other irreplaceble content is now gone. pissed.

It seems as if they are making it easy to listen to commercial music, but have no option to access user-created material. The info on my page was not copied from others as much as it was created by me, and
i would have liked a chance to copy it off of the site, had i known they were going to eliminate it!!

Trace Richard Bridge's remarks at Mudcat. I remember reading it, and he posted something.

I thought that would work - but I find notthing. He may have made a response on the mudcat facebook page to something posted there. You might have to go there for a thread that discussed it.

There was a post a couple days back. I revisited my old myspace page as a result. I never was in to the blogging thing, but the videos I had posted were gone. They are still up on youtube, so they're not lost. Someone else described myspace as "the internets unused playground."

There have been a number of news reports about "changes at Facebook" for some months. They seem to pop up about every week or two.

"Explanations" of what users need to do to save their stuff and/or display it the way they want it are usually "vague" so far as I can tell, but then I don't participate so I'm not very familiar with the site.

I don't recall any recent hype about lost files, although they were "phasing in" "something new" a week or two ago, and with most such changes individual users see the "improvements" appearing over a period of time. Sometimes they put some help in their FAQs.

While those of us who don't use Facebook may assume that the frequent changes are just because they don't really know what they're doing, that's probably unfair, since the insist that each change is an "improvement." Maybe they're just "slow improvers."

Of course you've moved all your important stuff to the "the cloud" where somebody else can decide for you how to make sure it's all safe ... (?).

John

I had that happen - a video of one of our regulars who passed away removed without explanation.

The other thread is now on top. It might be useful to combine them.
