Skipy's a bit too poorly to publicise his festival at Grove (Wantage, Berks) this year, so I thought I'd start a thread about this lovely, friendly little festival instead.

The festival runs from 16-18 August and there will, as usual, be opportunities to sing with me and Derek, and with the Admiral and Mrs Admiral, play with Bill McKinnon, dance in the Old Mill Hall, watch other people dance, and listen to great performers such as Maggie Boyle and Paul Downes, Mudcat's own Keith Kendrick and Sylvia Needham, and Wholehearted (John Oke Bartlett and Pete Luscombe). And to meet up and chill out with friends old and new.

It's the friendly relaxed atmosphere that makes White Horse (Grove to most of us!) such a special festival.
I started going when I was working at its predecessor the Stanford-in-the Vale with Johnny Collins in The Singing Chef, oh happy days!
The WHFF is different but just as good.

Really looking forward to going for the first time.

Wendy Arrowsmith (my wife) is also booked as a guest but we're looking forward to a family weekend there as we're bringing my Mum, my Sister (who celebrates her *0th birthday on the Sunday) and my nephew. My Sister and Nephew are visiting from Sweden. That's as well as our kids of course.

I will also be bringing the banjo. Sorry!

Alas, we won't be able to go this year as I'm booked elsewhere. A real shame as this is a lovely relaxed friendly festival and always has great guests!

I managed to miss the earlier Stomping on the vole fests , but have made nearly all of WHFF , sometimes only for the Sunday Sing .
At the moment see no reason not to be there this year , and I will also have at least one banjo .

We'll be there and it may be our last! All depends if we can make it down from Scotland in future years.
Since we won't be taking the caravan north with us it will be up for sale. "Coachman 440 VIP" if anyone is interested, make us an offer.

Were you there? If not, you missed a delightful weekend. WHFF is an outstanding example of 'small is beautiful' and I think we all owe a big debt of gratitude, particularly this year, to Dave and Kate for the huge amount of work they put in to give us a good time.
