Subject: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Gutcher Date: 21 Jul 13 - 12:41 PM Winner of the 2013 open and a consistant supporter of the Scottish Open which he also won this year. An example to the prima- donnas who considered the Scottish to be a minor competition and beneath them but which has proved to be a good practice competion for Phil. |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: The Sandman Date: 21 Jul 13 - 01:08 PM i backed him at 25 to one |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Elmore Date: 21 Jul 13 - 01:53 PM How anybody could hit a 66 on that course is beyond me. Doesn't this belong in the b.s. section? |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Jim McLean Date: 21 Jul 13 - 02:31 PM ditto Elmore. |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Wesley S Date: 21 Jul 13 - 02:32 PM What did he win? A fiddle competition? Do they have those in Scotland too? |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: MikeL2 Date: 21 Jul 13 - 02:37 PM Hi Yes a fantastic round by Phil. Of course I was willing Lee Westwood to win and for a time it looked highly likely. He cracked under the strain and no wonder !!! 66 on that difficult course and with the wind playing tricks. Congratulations to Phil. He richly deserves it. Cheers MikeL2 |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Gutcher Date: 21 Jul 13 - 02:40 PM E-- would have put it there had I known how. This course certainly separated the men from the boys [the two amateur laddies certainly did well] and lets face it, it was the same for all the players and most refreshing to see a golf competition entering the final round with the leading score at minus 3 instead of in the minus twenties that we sometimes get. |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Gutcher Date: 21 Jul 13 - 02:51 PM Westwood was the favoured competitor here as well, he being, to use an indelicate country term, a bollock connection to the home based fans. Those of you who can pronounce Moniave correctly can apply here for political asylum. |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Elmore Date: 21 Jul 13 - 02:56 PM Gutcher: No big deal. I watched more of this tournament than usual. It was a lot more fun than much of the topics in the b.s. section. |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: bradfordian Date: 22 Jul 13 - 02:57 AM And while we are on a non music theme..... congratulations to Chris Froome...... and the England Cricket team |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Acorn4 Date: 22 Jul 13 - 04:05 AM I actually listened to it on the radio - not always the best medium to make golf exciting, but it was a good listen. I think the commentators were a bit relieved when Juan Miguel Jimenez fell down the order a bit as they were starting to run out of saliva |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Gutcher Date: 22 Jul 13 - 04:45 AM I gave up on cycling about the same time as I gave up on athletics and for the same reason---when a certain 100m. world record holder was exposed as a drug cheat and invited to sue the publication that made the exposure. Needless to say the runner, who demanded respect, did not dare sue. Congratulations to the cricket team, I unfortunately had to make a choice and did not see any of the 2nd. game in the series. |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Mr Red Date: 22 Jul 13 - 09:51 AM Methinks if I mentioned MotoGP I would shouted at for not being folkie enough. But The guy who won at Laguna Seca is a 20 year-old sensation. Passing on the dirt in the Corkscrew - passing the guy who invented the move - 9 times champion Valentino Rossi! Sensation is too inadequate a word. I will slip to (deep) cover immediately. |
Subject: RE: Congratulations Phil Mickelson From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 22 Jul 13 - 11:53 AM I understand he was from San Diego. Will Amos be writing a tribute song? RtS |
