Subject: Amos Travels East! From: Amos Date: 31 Jul 13 - 08:42 PM I am flying into Maine in Mid-August and am planning on visiting friends and family in Maine and Nova Scotia until late August. I will have some time to bounce around northern New England before heading south for pre-Getaway visits and such. I'm open to opportunities to visit, swap songs, do house concerts or just hang out with Catter friends along the trail from Maine to Maryland. Let me hear from you if you're interested. I have a D-35 and I know how to use it, up to a point... Look forward to putting some faces to Mudcat names! Maggie (Mudflanks McFuzzbutt, the perfect Rocket Dog) will not be coming, unfortunately. Regards, Amos |

Subject: RE: Amos Travels East! From: Bill D Date: 02 Aug 13 - 08:25 PM Maryland seems to be last on the list... for good reasons... but if you find you need a stop on the trip back & forth, I have coffee and extra plastic mugs. (even something stronger) |

Subject: RE: Amos Travels East! From: ChanteyLass Date: 02 Aug 13 - 11:12 PM Amos and Rapparee, I'm in Rhode Island and would be happy to meet either of you or other Mudcatters for a cup of coffee or an inexpensive meal ("Dutch" treat). Wish I could host a house concert, but I live in a tiny condo with only two parking spaces per unit. |
Subject: RE: Amos Travels East! From: Amos Date: 28 Sep 13 - 12:55 PM Well, I am happily ensconced in North Carolina, visiting Dani, having made my way here the other day from the lovely spread owned by our own Beaubear and Peavine, which is further south near the S. Carolina border. I came to Bobert's spread--which is mightily impressive--from Maryland where I spent a pleasant night swapping songs with Bill and Rita, and several days with my niece, where I inspired her young son to take up guitar so he could learn to play Finnegan's Wake. Ya never know what is going to entrance a young person's attention. I can only apologize for all the bright souls I have missed in my wanderings from Canada to the Confederacy. I should do it all over again and double the list of visits. I have really enjoyed my visit to Hillsborough, the town that actually started the American Revolution long before Concord. I visited the site of the hanging in town, where six local stalwarts were strung up by the Tories in revenge for a spontaneous militia attack against the redcoats. A long story. My delights in this life continue unabated, and I think wandering among friends armed only with music is perhaps the ultimate Destiny for good souls who are in their penultimate steps of enlightenment, just before they manage to jump off the Wheel altogether and find their way into the next Higher Range. A |
Subject: RE: Amos Travels East! From: Jeri Date: 28 Sep 13 - 01:35 PM Don't friggin' jump! It was a joy meeting you. I finally stopped talking about halfway into my trip home. |
Subject: RE: Amos Travels East! From: Bill D Date: 28 Sep 13 - 04:27 PM "... penultimate steps of enlightenment, just before they manage to jump off the Wheel altogether and find their way into the next Higher Range." That enlightenment, gained over 60 years of concentrated contemplation, never showed me evidence that the Wheel did anything but run downhill. ;>) You sayin' I didn't jump off soon enuf? (But it WAS a delight having you here and trading (mostly listening) songs with you. See you next weekend... with a selection of plastic mugs) |

Subject: RE: Amos Travels East! From: Amos Date: 14 Oct 13 - 01:13 PM An amazing series of heart-warming visits culminating in a mind-melting Getaway weekend, and our revels now are done. I am back in the auld harness scrambling to catch up. But the images of these last ten weeks will be floating in and out of my poor head for months as I try to process it all. The photos from the northern part of my journey are here. And those from the Southern part are here. Enjoy! A |
Subject: RE: Amos Travels East! From: ChanteyLass Date: 14 Oct 13 - 11:14 PM Nice photos, Amos! I wish I'd had a chance to meet you. The East Coast map you posted as the first photo on one of your pages made me laugh. No Rhode Island, although the city of Providence was named. |
Subject: RE: Amos Travels East! From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 15 Oct 13 - 09:10 AM It sounds like you had a wonderful trip, Amos. I enjoyed looking at your pictures, esp. the dog, the spider web and the purple flowers. |
Subject: RE: Amos Travels East! From: Leadfingers Date: 15 Oct 13 - 07:41 PM Great pics mate , but a few captions for us Furriners would be useful |
