I learned some of his arrangements of old standards, Beatle tunes and fiddle tunes off his Kicking Mule albums and it got me started on arranging my own. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Guitarist Dale Miller (1944-2013) From: GUEST,Suzy T. Date: 21 Aug 13 - 03:32 PM Here is a FB post, apparently this sad news is true: To Dale's Facebook friends. This is his wife Terry. Dale died Monday night from complications of the treatment for lymphoma. He was my soulmate and loving partner/husband for more than 30 years. My fondest memories of him are dancing to his playing in numerous federal and state parks around the west. I know he loved facebook and all his friends in this world --- especially fellow musicians and guitarists. We can remember him through his CDs and on his you-tube channel where you can see his elegant fingers at work. |

Subject: RE: Obit: Guitarist Dale Miller (1944-2013) From: GUEST,Evan Hodge, Colorado Date: 16 Sep 13 - 12:39 PM I came to learn about Mr Miller through articles in Acoustic Guitar Magazine, and then followed up on his work, because I liked the character of the man that shone through his words. Then I heard his music. A true musician, dedicated, always exploring and always encouraging others. Obviously a gifted a teacher and caring human being, he will always be there in his music as an inspiration. My condolences to family and friends. -- Ev |
Subject: RE: Obit: Guitarist Dale Miller (1944-2013) From: GUEST Date: 17 Sep 13 - 11:24 PM Remembering the great Dale Miller. Dale invited me for a lesson one Saturday after his McCabes concert (thirty years ago) to the house of Bob Baxter in Calabasas. All he wanted for payment was a can of shaving cream. He taught me his version of Somewhere over the Rainbow. I have played it in countless coffee houses over the last thirty years. He was a fine fellow, true gentleman, with a guitar case plastered with airline stickers from all over the world. I shall always remember him with great fondness. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Guitarist Dale Miller (1944-2013) From: GUEST Date: 18 Sep 13 - 12:25 AM As a student constantly played Fingers Dont Fail me Now. Learn alot from Dale. Thanks Dale. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Guitarist Dale Miller (1944-2013) From: GUEST Date: 30 Oct 13 - 06:19 PM R.I.P. Dale... I hadn't been made aware of J.J. Cale's (R.I.P.) demise. Unfortunately, I was only turned on to Dale's work 4-5 years ago & never had the opportunity to see/meet/hear him in-person. Thoughts of sympathy to the families of BOTH of these fine songwriters' songwriters/musicians' musicians |
