Greetings; this past weekend I was at the Texas Renaissance Festival playing An Irish Lullaby when I had a request from a lass. She requested another lullaby called the "Isle of Skye" She said that bagpipers typically play the tune without vocal accompaniment but she remembers it as a lullaby.

Is there another name for this tune? Anyone familiar with the chords and lyrics. Please drop me a line.

I've often heard "The Sky Boat Song" referred to as "isle of skye' and I know more then one family where it is used as a lullabye. Could this possibly be it? It is popular as a bagpipe tune as well.

I don't know how to do the 'blue clicky thingy', but here's the URL for a thread about a year ago on this song. I hope this helps out. -- Áine

Sh...ame, I've forgotten again how to do those blue clicky things! You'll have to cut and paste, I'm afraid. - Susanne

Sail, bonny boat, like a bird on the wing
Onward, the sailors cry.
Carry the lad who's born to be King
Over the sea to Skye

Novalis, it isn't the Skye Boat Song but a different one. Apologies, however - in my hurry I didn't notice that my address given above takes you to the same thread that Mario had already linked to. I thought it was a different one and only realised my mistake later on. - Susanne
