Subject: what to do w/ unplayed cds?? From: Claire M Date: 12 Oct 13 - 12:40 PM Hiya, Thinking of having clear-out of cds cos I'm running out of space for 'em. I've lots I haven't listened to /watched in about 1yr, doubt I will again. I feel a sense of calm w/ blues/folk – well folk *rock* mostly – on, which I never did in my rock days – & I *never* tire of hearing it. As for the heavier stuff, my ♥ stopped being in it a few yrs ago due to health problems. I still wonder if it ever really was. No matter *how* long I've been uninterested in something I still tend to worry when my enthusiasm for things leaves me. Maybe I'm having one of these! A friend suggested boxing them up, but if they're in a box unplayed they might as well go. Any ideas?? |
Subject: RE: what to do w/ unplayed cds?? From: GUEST,CS Date: 12 Oct 13 - 01:26 PM Stick them on an iPod or iTunes (or both as we do) then stash the discs. We have our amp and speakers plugged into the PC so that's our music centre (media centre actually as thats what we watch films and series on too). For headphones I use an iPod. |
Subject: RE: what to do w/ unplayed cds?? From: MGM·Lion Date: 12 Oct 13 - 02:01 PM They make good coaster mats for putting hot drinks down on. That is what I have always done with those unsolicited advertising ones that come thru the post. If you use the label side for this purpose, they should presumably remain playable just in case you ever might want to hear one of them again ~~ to check something or whatever. ~M~ |
Subject: RE: what to do w/ unplayed cds?? From: JohnInKansas Date: 12 Oct 13 - 02:37 PM There are numerous "used CD" shops in our area that might credit you for any you choose to donate. Some will pay a few cents, but others only offer "credits" you can use to get other CDs from them (most used book shops do the same here?). Most of such shops here are in small business malls (low rent places), so they're not conspicuous, but there are very likely to be such places almost anywhere if you look for them. While you can't expect much monetary profit from this sort of recycling, it at least makes your unwanted stuff available to others whose tastes might be more similar to your former ones. John |

Subject: RE: what to do w/ unplayed cds?? From: GUEST,guest Date: 13 Oct 13 - 02:01 AM My local library just sells them, but there is always them. However my local state university may take some of them, add to their folk collection, same place my heirs have been told to take my dvd collection. |

Subject: RE: what to do w/ unplayed cds?? From: GUEST,FloraG Date: 13 Oct 13 - 08:26 AM At Dartford club a person had died and thier wife donated the cds. They were sold to help towards club funds. I thought at the time this could become a permenant feature for unwanted CDs. FloraG. |
