Subject: Woody Guthrie Annual: Call for Articles From: GUEST,Will Kaufman (guest) Date: 20 Feb 14 - 12:36 PM Call for Submissions: The Woody Guthrie Annual http://pops.uclan.ac.uk/index.php/WGA The Woody Guthrie Annual is a new open-access peer-reviewed journal containing the most up-to-date scholarship on Woody Guthrie, his work and his cultural and political significance. The journal will be published once a year, in December. In addition to peer-reviewed scholarly articles, the Woody Guthrie Annual will contain book and record reviews, news, and notices of relevant events. The journal will comprehensively indexed and archived in the appropriate online repositories. The editors invite articles of 7,000-10,000 words, not only on Guthrie himself, but also on the cultural and political movements in which he was involved, his associations, and his legacy - all we ask is that a firm connection with Guthrie be maintained throughout the article. For further information on submissions, please contact the Managing Editor, Professor Will Kaufman, at wkaufman@uclan.ac.uk. |

Congratulations. Any thoughts on when we can see the first edition and roughly what the cost will be? |
Subject: RE: Woody Guthrie Annual: Call for Articles From: Stringsinger Date: 20 Feb 14 - 07:53 PM Will, I knew Woody in Topanga Canyon, California in the early Fifties while he was staying in the seed shack of Will Geer's ranch. Will Geer took care of him in earlier times. |
Subject: RE: Woody Guthrie Annual: Call for Articles From: GUEST,Will Kaufman Date: 23 Feb 14 - 01:07 PM Many thanks, Fred - it will be a free, online open-access journal. It will of course depend on our receiving submissions from authors. And "Stringsinger"' you and I are actually Facebook friends, and I'm honoured to make your (virtual) acquaintance, as I know of your connection to Woody and Pete and your place in American musical history! |
