Thought this might be of interest to a few mudcatters...

On the eve of the canal season opening, I'll be utilizing some newly-available technology to give an "online concert" (i.e. available on any internet-connected computer or device) of Erie Canal music, Wednesday April 30 2014 at 7:30pm eastern daylight time, live from my home in Buffalo NY.

Here's the event page (scroll down for concert description)

Join in if you can!

Been having a lot of fun with "The Raging Canal ", the 1840's piece attributed to Pete Morris that seems to have started the whole cycle of canalling-as-treacherous-maritime-pursuit songs (see "Oh Dat Lo Bridge", "The Er-i-e Was Rising", Mark Twain's "The Aged Pilot Man", etc).

Listened to, and enjoyed your last Concert Window. Re this thread and Dick Miles's thread, I think it's a service to announce performances. Trying to find vernacular songs on Concert Window is a hassle, because the site is laced with singer-songwriters. Anyway I appreciate the heads up.

Thanks for the nice words Airymouse. People seem to really enjoy the convenience of the Concert Window experience (if not the lack of intimacy and connection between performer and audience).

I recently did a few interactive performances via Skype for school children at the other end of the state. I could see and hear them, and they could see/hear me in something close to real time. Amazing.
