Well, as a liturgist, I know it breaks all kinds of rules that were made for all kinds of good reasons....but sometimes there is good reason for an exception. It's obvious that the priest is fond of the newlyweds, and he wanted to give them a gift from his heart.
And hey, he's got a great voice.

I got a real kick out of seeing him wiggle his eyebrows at the bride.. he doesn't appear old enough to have baptized them, but he is most surely an old family friend.

nice gift to the newlyweds...

At least he had the wisdom to change the words. I heard a childrens choir sing on a mass on radio once singing the same song and they went the whole

There was a time you let me know
What's really going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you
And remember when I moved in you
And the holy dove was moving too
And every breath we drew was hallelujah

Hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah

which didn't sound right coming from a bunch of ten year olds, no matter how well they sung it (they did). The choirmaster must have been a right plank without an inkling as to what the song is about. Just thought 'ah yes, hallelujah, that'll be top notch for mass this week'
. Wrong.

I could imagine this version catching on at other weddings, if the words were available. a good voice but I didn't make all the words out.

I prefer the words L.C. has been using for the last few decades. Father Ray has a pleasant voice though.
