The Scottish traditional music business Footstompin has been closed and up for sale for a while now, but its forum has been continuing as normal. Today something's gone wrong. Attempting to access the site doesn't work if you use the sitename - I assume its registration has expired.

But the forum is still accessible (and appears to work exactly the same) if you access it by IP number:

Yep - I tried to access the forum too and it's vamoosed.
I've been told it's finished. Sad - not even a last 'goodbye'
Maybe some mudder can shed some light on the situation.
It was a good site for local info/chat, etc.

I just managed to post a message to it, using the link above.

I had to ignore a warning about invalid security certificates. Makes sense that if the registration had lapsed, so would the security certification. In any event I used a low-security password for the site that I don't use for anything serious, so I wasn't risking anything even if the site had been spoofed.

The site was last crawled by the archive.org Wayback Machine on 16 February, so everything posted before then should be recoverable.

The site still has domain registration until the end of August this year (I checked), so that can't be the reason it's down.

A message on Nigel Gatherer's forum says they had a DNS problem but it should be back tomorrow.
