Last I heard (Friday 25 April) there were just two tickets left and these were expected to go very quickly.

PS I just noticed... Not greatly important, I suppose, but the club is actually the Music Institute Folk Club. Although it is held at the Guildford Institute, it is not actually part if their organisation.

They were great on last Sunday's BBC4 Showing of "Sting.When The Last Ship Sails" (along with Kathryn and Peter Tickell and Julian Sutton) a credit to the North-East folk scene.

You Southerners have had YEARS to book these lads down South - but you didn't - Northern Twonkers you thought - we've known for years how good they are - fact is - us Northerners CAN tell talk form mutter.
Fabulous bunch of lads and their womenfolk are stupendous singers too - but you won't get to hear them I suppose.

Betsy, had the pleasure of seeing you (and hosting you for the night) way back in the 70s at Stagfolk.

The esteemed Lawrence Heath who ran that club and runs the Music Institute Club has booked the boys 3/4 times over the last few years. They only come back because we provide them with some great local beer and special home made ice-cream.

The beer is on tap, the ice-cream in the freezer, they may not want to come back this time! And we may not let them - you can't have all the great things 'oop north.

They are also at Chippenham festival at the end of the month! In fact we see them south of the Tees more often than you seem to suggest Betsy. "A great bunch of lads" indeed who create a fantastic sound.

I have seen them quite a few times down South Betsy over the years. But quite a lot up at Whitby and other locations north of Watford as well. I don't think we're quite as lacking as you suspect. (And yes, I have heard some of the girls from the family as well as other family members singing). I'm still waiting to try and get a photo of them drinking Tea on Friday. Won't get the chance to get at the ice cream though unless Chris and Helen bring it to the club on the night.
PS To the guest who enquired, until the start of this season maximum capacity of the club was 50, but thanks to the recent work undertaken at the Institute which has now given disabled access etc, the capacity is now maximum 70.
