Hi all,
The Frank Harte Festival is over for another year and it was mighty. It was a magical weekend of fantastic singing with wonderful guests, friends and comrades, mighty songs and mighty listeners.
The committee of An Góilín Singers Club come in for a lot of praise and congratulation from so many of the participants and we are encouraged and empowered by the words of encouragement, but we on the organising committee are only the public face of a much broader collective that works extremely hard to ensure the continued success of The Frank Harte Festival weekend.
Thanks must go to the Arts Council of Ireland that helps to fund the fest.
Thanks also to the Teachers Club and its fantastic staff.
In addition to the above there is an unsung group of people that work behind the scenes to make the FHFest one of the best annual festivals that occur in our capital city. That group is the Góilín collective and many of them are here on the Mudcat. Those men and women that help with the myriad of mundane, but important and essential jobs that have to be performed to ensure that things run smoothly; collecting the sound system for the concert, the PA for the walk, preparing and decorating the hall, laying out and designing the booklet for the walk, ferrying, collecting and delivering guests, manning and womaning desks, sorting the hall after the concert, etc, etc, etc. I won't use names for fear that I inadvertently leave somebody out, but I want to public acknowledge the Trojan work that you perform and to say thank you for making the Frank Harte Festival the continuing success that it is.
Fergus
PS. I'm already looking forward to Frank Harte Festival 2015.
