I know that this is a worldwide site and what most of us do in small parts of the world is unimportant but we have used Mudcat to share information and have recieved many good wishes and many passers-by have joined us for Songs and Tunes at The Beech.

But we have fallen to one of the oldest traditions in Folk Music - we found a really good pub, gathered a brilliant collection of musicians and friends, played good music for years - then got asked to leave for no reason that makes sense to us.

We are not taking it personally or even collectively - The Monday Irish, The Tuesday Cajun Session and the 'Comedy' Night have also been asked to go.

However we have been made most welcome at The Dulcimer Bar:

It's in the middle of Chotlon cum Hardy, its a very smart bar, the acoustics are good and the beer is excellent and even cheaper than that at The Beech and the staff are brilliant.

We still sing songs mostly but not exclusively on 1st & 3rd Tuesdays now and play tunes on 2nd & 4th Tuesdays because the Dulcimer is busy on Wednesdays.

We trust that people who have joined us previously will continue to do so and new friends will make the trek.

What's the font you use for the body text on your site? Is it a dyslexia-friendly one or something? I haven't seen anything like it before.

Might we see some of you at Chester Festival, in Kelsall over the bank holiday weekend. Tuneworks are doing beginners and Improvers sessions + lots more as always.

I wasn't thinking of you in the cellar, Keith, so much as a certain person who goes to the Belvedere and puts everybody off by droning and groaning in various keys, none of which have ever been heard before.

BTW., did you know the Belvedere is a grade 2 listed building? Well I can tell you we've got a grade 1 prat in there who thinks he's musical. Nobody else does.

Hi Les - sorry to hear the Beech sessions have gone tits up> My very best wishes for the new venue - I hope continuity rules!

We've recently had a slightly less worrying problem at our Brighton Acoustic Session where the pub landlord "double booked" for the June 2nd slot - and we've had to move elsewhere for the evening. The fact that the guests for the evening are me and my mate Chris Wolferstan only adds to the annoyance! :-)

It's par the course for happenings in pubs. In a way, you can't blame the landlords for screwing you over - they're very often being screwed over themselves! As the Mafia might say, it's business, not personal...

We have it all Will - that's why we are so laid back - or maybe a month in France with the caravan helps. The photo is a of a campsite in Crest somewhere just east of the the Rhone near the Ardeche - all good fun - Calais a week on Sunday
