There's a YouTube video of this, so I turned on my little keyboard and sounded out what Manitoba Hal is singing. (But I lost interest fast.) I kept returning to Gm.

Gm? That's G-B-flat-D. He may be singing in F or in B flat. When an amateur is trying to figure out what chords a professional is using, it always helps to know what key the pro is using. If it doesn't suit you, you can change it later.
