Subject: Tech: Undeletable Spam at Yahoo From: JHW Date: 04 Jun 14 - 04:26 AM I don't use Yahoo mail now but just checking back there I found a Spam Email in my Inbox which has no tick box to let you process it nor will it delete nor obey the menu to move it to the spam folder where it should be. It's locked in the Inbox!!! Good job I gave up on Yahoo. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Undeletable Spam at Yahoo From: Nick Date: 04 Jun 14 - 07:46 AM I've used Yahoo mail with same email address for upwards of 15 years with no hassles or difficulty removing anything. Also I get practically no spam now that isn't picked up and automatically removed. I think it is a great (and free) service. I have loads of other email accounts but still use the yahoo one as the easiest one. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Undeletable Spam at Yahoo From: JHW Date: 04 Jun 14 - 08:13 AM I've just looked back and found it gone (was for Irish Hotels) but it's not gone to the spam folder. Curiously I checked in using IE8 instead of Firefox and now in the Inbox there's a similarly locked spam email for Facebook! |
Subject: RE: Tech: Undeletable Spam at Yahoo From: Stilly River Sage Date: 04 Jun 14 - 10:05 AM I've seen those unremovable sponsored posts at the top of the box. Even clicking on them to hopefully trigger some response doesn't work, they won't go away. I don't use Yahoo mail much because they won't let you download your email into a resident program like Thunderbird unless you pay an annual fee, and even then I don't think it makes a difference on the number of ads you see. Yahoo is busy trying to reinvent themselves these days. They own Flickr and have removed all pretense of customer service, so they don't get any kudos for that, but they did hire David Pogue as their technology adviser and reporter and I've always enjoyed his work. Subject: RE: Tech: Undeletable Spam at Yahoo From: GUEST,MikeL2 Date: 04 Jun 14 - 11:37 AM Hi I'm with Nick on this one. Been on Yahoo Mail for many years and have had no problems. For Spam it's much better at shifting it than Windows Live Mail. Cheers Mike |
Subject: RE: Tech: Undeletable Spam at Yahoo From: GUEST Date: 04 Jun 14 - 04:21 PM Its not spam its the advertising that pays for your "free" email. I don't know if Yahoo offer a paid, ad free version but there are plenty of ad free webmail services that you can pay for. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Undeletable Spam at Yahoo From: JHW Date: 05 Jun 14 - 02:28 PM I'd be very happy to have a service as good as the old Yahoo purple one WITH ads AND pay for it. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Undeletable Spam at Yahoo From: GUEST,Guest Date: 05 Jun 14 - 08:55 PM Been with Yahoo for a number of years now, primarily because it can be picked almost anywhere on the planet and it is essentially free. THEN They decided to update and now I find it is a real dogs breakfast with no logic whatsoever to where stuff can be filed and a real jumble. Very similar to gmail, which I find equally unintelligible. And no - I am not a bloody idiot so don't try telling me I am. I just want something efficient without all the gobbledegook. |
