I heard a scratchy old LP recording of this song a few years ago, and i know it has a beautiful melody to go with the bone chilling lyrics. can't remember it, though... does anyone else know it?

i'll take it in any form: midi, miditext, abc, gif, or i'll even coach you on how to post a wav file to your very own free webpage if it comes to that!

i know that posting tunes can be way more labor intensive than posting lyrics. you can call me collect and just sing if you want!

Hi, Emily - Folk-Legacy just reissued an album by Harry Tuft called Acros the Blue Mountains (click). You'll find the song on that album - the whole album is a gem, and Harry's rendition of "Griesly Bride" is haunting.

Harry says that it was set by Tom Campbell, who co-wrote "Darcy Farrow" with Steve Gillette, and a couple songs covered by Jefferson Airplane in their early days. The original John Manifold poem was re-worked by Campbell to make it scan better as a song. Look here for the original:
