Subject: Griesly Bride From: emily rain Date: 20 Nov 99 - 08:55 PM I heard a scratchy old LP recording of this song a few years ago, and i know it has a beautiful melody to go with the bone chilling lyrics. can't remember it, though... does anyone else know it? i'll take it in any form: midi, miditext, abc, gif, or i'll even coach you on how to post a wav file to your very own free webpage if it comes to that! i know that posting tunes can be way more labor intensive than posting lyrics. you can call me collect and just sing if you want! |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Griesly Bride From: Joe Offer Date: 20 Nov 99 - 11:18 PM Hi, Emily - Folk-Legacy just reissued an album by Harry Tuft called Acros the Blue Mountains (click). You'll find the song on that album - the whole album is a gem, and Harry's rendition of "Griesly Bride" is haunting. -Joe Offer- Harry Tuft: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2mx1ei8U0oo Cindy Mangsen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtsTUpJohws |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Griesly Bride From: lamarca Date: 21 Nov 99 - 11:06 PM Harry says that it was set by Tom Campbell, who co-wrote "Darcy Farrow" with Steve Gillette, and a couple songs covered by Jefferson Airplane in their early days. The original John Manifold poem was re-worked by Campbell to make it scan better as a song. Look here for the original: |
