Subject: RE: White Horse folk festival 2014 (UK) From: maeve Date: 12 Aug 14 - 07:10 AM " Taking place in Grove, near Wantage in rural Oxfordshire, WHFF is a small, friendly festival for folk fans who enjoy making new friends. WHFF has been described as just like a weekend-long party - and that's just how we like it!!" "WHFF is a small, intimate, relaxed festival where there is an emphasis on creating an inclusive atmosphere and encouraging everyone to play a part in the weekend's events. There is plenty of opportunity to sing, play or tell a story with singarounds and music sessions every day, sometimes set around a particular theme" http://www.whitehorsefolkfestival.co.uk/ |

However it occurs on the same weekend as another lovely little festival so this year I am at the other fest but will return to WHFF next year. Can't do both so alternating between the two. Dave |

The whole weekend went very well , as usual - many thanks to Dave and Kate ! (And the staff of the rugby club who a;so did an excellent job with beer and food ! |
Subject: RE: White Horse folk festival 2014 (UK) From: Hesk Date: 17 Aug 14 - 05:21 PM Well said Leadfingers. Apologies, also, for being a bit grumpy outside the concert, but I got hit by a bug, almost as soon as I arrived, and went steadily down hill from there. Apart from that, it had to be one of the best ever, with many first timers adding to the mix. "Poachers' Pocket" entertained us all with their staging of a fairground organ. It was hilarious. Definitely a highlight for me. And Happy Birthday, Bob. Derek and Kitty have to be congratulated for hosting a singaround of 40 singers, and, still, managing to get round twice! Tony and Pearl, also, managed the singarounds in the pub with their usual humour and expertise. Bob and Gill, and Tony and Pearl, have a couple of days to recover, before it all starts up again at Towersey. |

Subject: RE: White Horse folk festival 2014 (UK) From: Leadfingers Date: 22 Aug 14 - 04:23 AM One 'high point' for me was Tom Lewis who did an hour of Stan Rogers - His life , his songs and his legacy . I have long admired Tom for his songs , but an hour of Stan really increased my admiration of his abilities |
