Subject: Paul Geremia Recuperating From: Elmore Date: 06 Oct 14 - 07:34 PM I'm not sure if this subject has been addressed, but on July 2 veteran bluesman Paul Geremia suffered a stroke. He was treated at a hospital in Ohio that specializes in treating stroke victims, and is doing pretty well at his Rhode Island home, but far from ready to resume working. For further information Google Paul. |

Subject: RE: Paul Geremia Recuperating From: ChanteyLass Date: 06 Oct 14 - 10:18 PM Oh! I was aware of Paul's health problem, but I don't know him personally though I have heard him perform several times. I was reluctant to share it here for privacy concerns, but I am very glad you did, Elmore. |
Subject: RE: Paul Geremia Recuperating From: GUEST,Suzy T. Date: 06 Oct 14 - 10:21 PM Paul is recuperating, but he's not at home - a friend is taking care of him. A fund has been set up to help with expenses (someone will need to be there while the care-taking friend is at work, for example) and if you would like to contribute, please go to: http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/something-s-gotta-be-arranged-/241689 The goal has been reached but it would be best to raise as much as possible because Paul will need help for quite awhile. A number of benefit concerts are being planned in various places and there will be one at the Freight & Salvage in Berkeley CA on Wed. Jan. 28 -- an Acoustic Blues Festival to benefit both Paul Geremia and Johnny Harper Lumsdaine (Bay Area musician who suffered a pulmonary embolism about a month ago) with Maria Muldaur, Marc Silber, Steve James, Barbara Dane, Chris O'Connell, Catfish Keith, Eric & Suzy Thompson and others. Meanwhile, please go to the SOmething's Gotta Be Arranged site and donate to Paul if you are able! |

Subject: RE: Paul Geremia Recuperating From: Mark Ross Date: 11 Oct 14 - 06:13 PM The show was a great success, a packed house, and the streaming went well, but only 18 people watched it. However, we raised close to 500 bucks for Paul. Because the show started so late on the East Coast, Paul didn't get to see it, but it was recorded, and I believe that both the audio recordings, and the video will be sent to him in Rhode Island. All of us donated our time and talent, and Tsunami Books didn't charge for the use of the room, which was very nice. As we were preparing to leave the scene of the crime, the owner of the bookstore insisted that all four of us (Bob Beach, from Philadelphia, on harmonica, David Jacobs-Strain and Walker T. Ryan on guitar, and myself on guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and harmonica) return to the stage and play some more, which we did. He then tipped us a not inconsiderable amount to play for 20 minutes. I got out of there so late and tired that I forgot my CD's and had to go back for them today. Paul called me this morning to thank all concerned for their efforts on his behalf. Mark Ross |
