Anyone?. At my local luthier's looking at an archtop undergoing restoration. Appears to be circa1950 (?) 1817 West Grand Avenue the maker's address. ANY info would be much appreciated.    Dennis Gordon and Jeremy

We have this guitar here in the shop and cannot find ANY information about the builder. It's labeled a 1949 and made in Chicago, but we know NOTHING about it. We would LOVE to know absolutely ANYTHING!!!!! Thanks!
It also says "quality archtop guitars" on the label. Thanks!!

Jeremy and Dennis- I conducted several searches with the help of google, but have found only this fragment, on the kijiji selling site in Canada:

"Jun 2, 2014 - 1949 Kenny Reid Archtop Guitar ... Story behind the guitar is that Kenny Reid was a luither at the Kay/Gibson factory in Chicago, who made custom guitars on the side. He would..."

I have not been able to verify this information, but perhaps it will give you a starting point in your search for more.

Ah schucks! That's the ad where this specific guitar came from! It's a really good guitar. It's somewhere between a 1950's Kay and a 1940's Epiphone in quality, but leaning more towards the Epiphone side. Thanks.. ;)

Funny! I wonder if you could search for more information on luthiers who worked for Gibson?
