Subject: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: Áine Date: 25 Nov 99 - 12:43 AM My son arrived home from university this evening for the Thanksgiving holiday with a worried look on his face. His best friend, Mark, age 21, underwent a heart valve replacement surgery on Tuesday afternoon. While in surgery, the doctors discovered a previously undetected hole in his heart. This morning, Mark underwent a second surgery to repair this hole. He is still in critical condition, but his doctors are optimistic about his recovery. Any good thoughts and prayers would be appreciated for this young man. He is one of the most intelligent, kindest, and special young men I know, and he deserves a long life to fulfill his destiny. He is very special to our family and we all appreciate your thoughts now. -- Áine |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: Liz the Squeak Date: 25 Nov 99 - 04:15 AM Consider it prayed..... and for your son too, he must be worried sick if he feels about his best friend the way I do about mine. What is his name? You didn't mention it. LTS |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: Pete Peterson Date: 25 Nov 99 - 09:43 AM just went and re-read Psalm 91 and then started singing (well, what else?) All day, all night, angels watching over me My Lord and sent up a prayer both for Mark and for your compassionate son (and for us all!) |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: Áine Date: 25 Nov 99 - 06:01 PM Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers for Mark. As I start preparing to put our Thanksgiving supper on the table, I can't help but think of Mark in hospital and his mother sitting beside his bed. She is a fantastic woman who has raised Mark and his sisters by herself their entire lives. I am so thankful that I have my family here with me, healthy and well, and I want so much that she may be able to enjoy that feeling as well in the years to come. We haven't heard any news today about how he is doing, so please keep your prayers coming for him. Braden, my son, is overwhelmed at the caring messages that he's read here and wants to thank all of you as well. With every good prayer, Áine |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: bet Date: 26 Nov 99 - 05:46 AM Dear Aine, It's about 4 am. in COlorado. This is really KAT posting from her sistre's computer. Please know that as we drive across the high plains desert over to Utah, today, I will send my prayers on the wings of eagles for Mark and his family, as well as for your son and your family. On the way here, I saw one coyote, four golden eagles, and two bald eagles; powerful medicine. They have always been powerful and positive messengers for me. May the Light of the Creator/God/Goddess/Great Spirit enfold Mark and keep him safe, bringing him through to swift healing and long life. luvyaKat |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Nov 99 - 04:15 PM Hopefully Mark and his family will have much to be thankful for....he already has some great friends obviously. Heart surgery is amazing stuff and the success factors are skyrocketing. It is still not an appendectomy, but things are approaching that kind of point, miraculous as that may seem to some of us. You of course have all the best thoughts from here. Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: Áine Date: 27 Nov 99 - 02:34 PM Hi, I'm Aine's son, Braden. I wanted to thank everyone for all their prayers and positive thoughts. Mark's surgery was successful. They've moved him out of the ICU and into a room. I talked to him on the phone today. He could carry on a conversation, so I guess he's off the heavy painkillers ("Too bad," Mark said, "those were some happy times.") I'm going to Houston to see him tomorrow. Mark was delighted to hear that you've been holding a candle for him ("Cool!"), and he asked me to thank you on his behalf. Yer good folks, and we thank you. -Braden |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: Rick Fielding Date: 27 Nov 99 - 02:41 PM wonderful news Braden! Rick |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Nov 99 - 02:55 PM Just simply great Braden!!! Try not to make him cough (the nurses will do that) or sneeze. Laughing hurts too, but its a good hurt!!! I'm so happy for your buddy...and for you and your Mom too. Spaw - Who knows about chest cutting. |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: catspaw49 Date: 27 Nov 99 - 03:02 PM and Braden....if they went thru the front by splitting the sternum(breastbone), they probably wired/stapled it together. If so, tell Mark he'll never make it through a metal detector at the airport again!!! Seriously, I set them off all the time...gotta' explain to the checker and let him do the wand thing over my chest.(:<)) Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: bseed(charleskratz) Date: 27 Nov 99 - 03:19 PM Terrific news, Braden. Are you a folkie too, like your mom? --seed |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: Banjer Date: 28 Nov 99 - 04:08 AM Seed, it occurs to me that anyone who cares for a friend like Braden does, and as you do for your friend Sally, has the basic ingredient that makes folkies the great folks they are. Braden, pass on our best wishes to Mark. |
Subject: RE: BS: Healing Circle: Request for Mark From: Áine Date: 28 Nov 99 - 11:37 PM Dear Friends, I talked with Braden tonight after he arrived back at university from visiting Mark in hospital in Houston. Mark was able to get up and walk around today for the first time since his surgeries and is doing so well that his doctors may release him a day early! He'll remain in Houston for week until his post operative checkup and then he'll be coming home to Arlington to stay with his mom until he returns to school. Braden wanted me to tell all of you how thankful Mark is for your kind thoughts and prayers. He thinks it's pretty 'Cool'! And I want you all to know how thankful I am for every good prayer said and prayerful song sung -- Y'all did just great, and I, too, think that it's pretty 'Cool'! May all your kindnesses return to you threefold, Áine |
