Can anybody help me by supplying the guitar chords to When Paddy Stole the Rope?

I would like to play it down my local pub.

Kind Regards.

D/ About they went, with theft G/ intent
Until the G/ place they were D/ finding
They broke into a G/ country D/ church
That A/ nobody was a'minding
They D/ scraped together G/ all they D/ could
And were prepared to Em/ slope

What G/ have we got for D/ rope

If that's the right version. From the singing of Sean Cannon.

Ah, an English song mocking supposed Irish criminality and stupidity. Yes, of course that should be revived. Not.

I'm reminded of being at a conference in the North of England, way back in the '70's at the height of the IRA campaign in Britain. Some of the delegates, knowing I was Irish, asked "What do Irish people think of those dreadful 'Irish jokes'?". I answered - "They tell them about Kerrymen!". "And what do the Kerrymen do?", they asked. "Put them in books and sell them to Englishmen!", sez I.

I was marginally gilding the lily - the main compiler of such books was from Cork!

Regards.

Ah yes, of course. Plenty of jokes about places we want to patronise; I tell them myself. (Why do Cavan people eat their dinner in a drawer? In case a visitor calls.) But I found that song pretty unpleasant.
