Hi All,

Hope to see some of you at The Welly Folk Club Office Christmas Party, this Thursday, 18th December.

There will be a set from both The Darlington Mummers & The Wilson Family....the Mummers celebrate their 50th year together and The Wilson Family their 40th Anniversary...so when we get together at the end for a bit of a final sing, there should be around 500 years of singing experience serenading the audience!!

More information on the Welly Folk Club can, as ever, be found on The Wilson Family website:

The Wilson Family Official Website

Cheers,

Mike

It's Tonight Folkies!

The club starts at 8.30pm, but before that:

Carols downstairs around the pub from 7.30pm.....and I genuinely hope she enjoys it! ;-)

Hope to see some of you there.

Cheers,

Mike W

Just heard some tremendous news.... Brother Ken will be giving us his acclaimed rendition of "Lovely On The Water" during tonight's celebrations at The Welly Folk Club Office Christmas Party...I would not know, having limited experience of such things, but....some say, it is the preferred version! ;-)

Merry Christmas One & All.

Mike W

Don't start them off again! It is my (dare i say it) preferred version.
Mike i think you should let mudcatters know about your 40 year celebration at the Sage (start a new thread)

Have a good night tonight...

A tremendous night at The Welly Folk Club last night, many thanks to all who came along, in particular the Mummers, now entering their 50th year as a group and still vibrantly good fun; keep an eye out for their 5oth Anniversary celebrations planned during next year.

The Santa on the cake for me was the Family, the Mummers and Doreen & Bryan Henderson finishing off with "The Miners Lifeguard", a song we, like so many others, got from Doreen's Dad, Jack Elliott. Birtley Folk Club had it's final night on Wednesday 17th December 2014, but the legacy and influence of that club and The Elliotts Of Birtley will continue for a very, very long time.

Happy Christmas & All The Best For 2015.

Mike
The Wilson Family
